I found that I could not keep or get the RPMs up either. Was a simple tightening of the linkage under the floor and also tightened the spring on the hand throttle.
Ok thanks, I guess mine was misadjusted at the factory. I can still run my throttle stop in some more, but like I say I dont run my tractor wide open all that much, its just nice to know it will turn the rpms it is supposed to if I need it to. I used my 5' KK saturday an ran at 1800 rpms and it cut great but the grass was not very tall.

One thing to remember.. most tractors have their 'power band' somewhere near their pto rpm rating.. if you are running your rpm significantly less than the pto rpm rating.. then you may well be not developing near your max hp.. For light loads this won't be n issue.. but if I had a 24 hp tractor.. I'd want to know it could make 24 hp.. and not 18-20 hp when i needed it.. etc.
