Kind of looks like real snow to me!

Grandpa retired from Buick and move to Portage lake, Houghton Hancock, Keweenaw peninsula, in the early 60s. We had to live there a for a while.

All I remember is grandma shot a black bear that got too close and the snow was up to the windows on the second story.

If you love snow, you are in the right place! Is it 400 inches a year?

Our memories play out in funny ways and this is why trial lawyers don't rely on them alone. Snow up to the 2nd story window might be because the house was built on a hillside, or someone is taking promotional photos... We average a "modest" 230" here.

Probably right about the 400 inches of snow and second story windows, call it a family fable. I was only between 3-8 years old so honestly, I don't remember. Grandmas bear was real, the pelt was in the living room along with the bear grandpa shot.

What a hoot, probably 10 cousins and for some reason, 9 boys. Jumbo peach! Grandpa ONLY fished for muskies! The big ore ships would cross Portage lake and wait 5-10 minutes....surfs up! Huge waves. Those were the days.

I believe MI State Hwy 2 is up there? I read years ago it was the second most remote/desolate hwy in the country?

Hey again ArlyA .

Question ? Though I dont believe they are as mechanically sound etc as yours , but for way down the road have you ever had any thoughts about purchasing tha CAN AM 1000 6X6 ? Looked them up a time or two seems like they were going between 16 k to 24 k depending on how you ordered it . Then I never seen one with the tracks . Also up there you probably wouldnt have very good dealer support ?

Have you even seen any Can Am 1000's 6x6 up that way ?

6x6 Outlanders have been successfully used as work machines while in snow. As you state, they come with a 1000cc engine option which is needed for operating in snow. Our 800cc sportsmans is under power and the machine weights quite a but less than the Outlanders do as well. If I could trade in in on a outlander, I would. Right now I'm creating a needs list for our fine city to groom a small recreation area and in it, I suggest using 1000cc 6x6 Outlander.

Ya hey deer!!! LOVE the UP!! Skied there growing up (Blackjack, Indian Head and Powderhorn, spent a few weeks in Houghton during college and dated a girl from Covington. It's a special place for sure. Thanks for the pics.

Indian Head. Possibly coldest place on the planet and the worst thing was, after your last run you had to ride the chair back up, 1 more time, to get to the parking lot. Been there on a number of occasions in the 70s where they closed due to cold.....at a ski hill!

Yikes ! I think i would stay put , kinda like don't fix it if its not broke . And they don't even bring a plug for heated riding suit or heated grips :) . Look it over closely if you buy one , I don't know if it was internet trash talk but a buyer claimed his came with premature frame rust .

We got a bit of snow this morning which is funny, since NOAA had us in down as a 30% chance of scattered snow showers. We got about 5" and may have been lake effect. This will be gone in a day or two, so no big deal.
