MARQUETTE, MI – It’s been a record-breaking couple days in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, several snowfall and precipitation records were broken on Monday and Tuesday.

Most notably, the 21.6 inches of snow on Tuesday, Feb. 22 is the most snowfall for a February day at the bureau in its history dating back to 1961.

The snowfall broke a record 19.4 inches the area received on Feb. 26, 2002. The previous record for snowfall on Feb. 22 was just 7.5 inches in 1974.


“Areas prone to northeast wind lake-effect have had their fair share of snow the last couple days, our office included,” NWS meteorologists said. “While the previous records were on the lower end, we did set new precipitation and snow records the last two days. Yesterday’s snow was also the single largest snowfall amount for any day in February on record.”

Daily precipitation (melted snow) records were also set on Monday and Tuesday, breaking previous records set in 1979 and 2017, respectively.

Finally, 9.7 inches of snow fell in the area on Monday, Feb. 21, breaking the old record of 6.9 in 2009.

The shop doing the service said they can't test the pump which takes a special thingamajig and suggested i take to the locale dealer. Its now sitting at the BRP dealership awaiting its test..

Unfortunately Imho when considering repair shops pay their techs minimally to diagnose and repair highly sophisticated powersports equipment problems with specialized tools etc. it's a tough situation to be in especially considering you need it now to maintain your trails. 8+ inches of snow predicted this Saturday in Baraga county. Best of luck.

These ones really stood out to me. Just another reason why the Huron Mountain club pisses me off so much. Consistently gets the most snow, has the best mountains in Michigan, incredible lakes, streams and lake shoreline, and it's private. 20,000 acres that we all deserve to share.

It's so desolate up there in Baraga and Marquette counties 20k acres isn't much I've been told the Huron mountain club runs there own private maintenance staff, security, road maintenance, fire fighting crews, and pay to get those lakes stocked if the very fortunate want a slice of the UP and pay for it let them have it in peace.
The fact the up is over 10.5 million acres coupled with a population of around 300k every man woman and child who actually live up there could each get a 35 acre chunk of land . There's areas up there where the nearest residency is over 10 miles away. That's why I love it up there. It is annoying and frustrating that multinational out of stateforestry "management" conglomerates buy millions of acres of UP land than restrict it's use by gating and land locking it. Yet completely take full advantage of the cfr tax credits that in a much smaller scale individual Michigan residents are helping to finance. I degress.

If it makes you mad, I'd suggest you buy into this privet club. If you can't do that today, than I'd suggest you aim that anger at your ancestors. Personally, I've not the time to get mad at people who purchased a chunk of property, X years ago.

Some news on the tow machine repair front. It's now at Houghton Power sports who hadn't yet found why the engine ran so poorly while warm, since the fuel pump tested fine, but did see the Y exhaust tube was cracked. It's replacement will run us $400 and the reason it had got rather noisy.

Good news was it's snow plow was fixed! (by me)
