a mix of roundup and 24d would work, but it would have to reapplied two or three times a year, low cost anyways

Last August I used a product called RM43 that I bought at Tractor Supply. I mixed according to the directions and applied it liberally to my gravel driveway which had become overgrown. The product claims to be good for a year - it's now mid-May, and no sign of new growth. Be careful with it though. My friend used it and apparently stepped in an area that he sprayed. He now has some dead footprints in his lawn.

Diuron 4L

Have to watch the labels, some have a section for treating non-crop areas, that is the part of the directions you are looking for.

You have to pay attention to your soil type and watering product in.

Chemicals work if they are applied correctly. If you think they are magic and ignore any details they will fail or cause a lot of damage.

Local chemical supplier is who you want to talk to.

Easier application would be Casaron 4G as it is granules.

Amazon.com : Casoron 4G (5 Pound bag) Mulch Bed Weed Inhibitor : Caseron Weed Killer : Garden & Outdoor

All the good stuff is expensive at first, but if it works it's worth every penny. You won't find what you are looking for at Home Depot or even most farm stores, their chemical sections have gone all PC and aren't worth looking at.

Salt works

Locoweed is right.

The Romans used salt to make raods in their day that are still grass free to this very day.
Try making that statement with any other chemical.

Our neighbors tried the vinegar route.....made his place smell horrible and weeds were never fully killed. Roundup works.....for a few weeks. Tried salt ...still grew. I swear, i wish my grass grew as well.

I just have to plow up driveway a few times a year to control weeds. I dont like using roundup with the dog and cat

Rethinking ...

The goal is to dry this area out. Vegetation draws moisture out of the ground. When there is no moisture to draw, the vegetation dies. So plant growth could be my canary .....
