KILLING GROUNDHOGS

I relocated a WC a couple years ago. It crawled up under my wife's Ford Edge while it was parked in our garage. It chewed off the gas tank sensor wires and then crawled into the engine compartment without her knowing. She left shortly afterwards to meet me at a camp site 30 miles away, where she told me about the engine light that came on. It's amazing how a very large WC can fit into an already over-packed engine bay, twisted around wires, cables, and hoses. After many attempts and with the help of a long stick we finally got it to leave the car and it ran to the woods. That was an expensive relocation effort.

Being a bowhunter in my early days I would use them for target practice. I would use arrows that I got at yard sales and some had hunting points. I shot one that managed to run with arrow in him which I figured would die at the burrow. My neighbor lady was big on gardening both vegetables and flowers. I took notice that she tied up some flowers using the arrow that the ground hog took off with it in him. Never said anything to her but was more careful about where I took a shot at them between our yards.

I used motor oil and pine bits in the hole, light, cover with rock. Sufficates and they're burried.

When I moved in 20 some years ago and begun cutting a field often the neighbor says he and his dog killed 22 that summer...We're still shooting them now and then. Got 2 this year, have one more out there. Seem to see them most often about 3pm.

Raccoons will drink flybait, but I don't think 'hogs will. Coons drink and drop dead with in about 10 feet. got 5 this year, plus one in a trap, 3 possums as well.

And found a near dead fawn in my yard (and it's twin was nearby). Game commission dealt with that.
