King Kutter brush hog and quick hitch issue requiring modification

Got a quick hitch for Christmas, but the triangle bracing on either side of my brush hog blocks my ability to hook up to it (they don't allow the hitch to get fully under the pins). You can see an area circled in blue in the photo where it's rubbing. I haven't found any products/solutions in my online searching.

Anyone have ideas other than cutting a little notch out of the top of that triangle?

A quick hitch adapter should work for you. This one from Amazon seems grossly overpriced, but it was quickest picture I could find. If I didn't already have one, I would just fabricate a link from some flat bar.

Cut a notch as needed.

If you think it needs the re-inforcement, add another triangle on the inside of the vertical plate.

Instead of a simple gusset plate reinforcement, consider welding in a piece of 3/8" or 1/2" thick 3x3 or 3x4 angle on the inside. That plate the pin is bolted through looks a little thin. You can angle one leg like the gusset.

Did you look at the OP's picture and read the text? The problem is with the lower hooks, not the upper hook!

I agree , Seems like people do this all the time on here . Rather annoying.

Cut the vertical weld from top down as far as needed. Hammer the cut portion down and re-weld it back to the vertical bracket. Worked for me.
