No Jim the planks are the standard 5/4 pressure-treated decking boards painted with some left over opaque stain I used on our porch swing/A-frame project from last summer.
The man made stuff would be nice, kinda pricey though I think.
I was gonna deck it with pressure-treated ¾” plywood, but man a sheet of that wet stuff is heavy and hard to handle and more expensive than these boards. I liked the look of this better anyway and with the gaps between the planks I figure it will be somewhat self-cleaning, allowing dirt to fall through the cracks.
One can of good quality spray paint is just barely enough to get the frame painted. I wiped it down with lacquer thinner to take off the gloss and dirt and leave the surface slightly tacky for good paint adhesion.
Should have sprung for galvanized carriage bolts but I figured the plated ones would last as long as the boards.
