King Kutter on Sale at TSC

I just saw the latest TSC ad and all the King Kutter stuff is on sale. Five foot tiller caught my eye at $999. Here's the flyer /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Not to ruin the fun...but it's always $999. I caught wind of this same "sale" about a month ago, and after comparing and pondering right up until the last day for the "sale"...I bought it.

The next day...it was still $999...and now it gone down to $999....you get the idea. I don't want to rain on anyone's parade...I just don't want folks to be pressured by a price that is just the same old low price you'd get any other day.

About my purchase...I'd still have done it even after realizing the truth...but I wouldn't have felt pressured into a purchase date /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I also noticed that about several of the prices in their "sale" ad. We got that in today's paper.

Radio Shack was notorious for doing this several years ago. I asked the manager of the local store why the prices in their sale ad were exactly the same as the prices in their annual catalog. He responded that it's not a "sale" ad, but a means to remind people that those products are availiable to be purchased at Radio Shack.

When I purchased my KingKutter model TG-60 tiller in 2001 it was $979.00 at regular price so at least they haven't gone up much.

A lot of their ad prices are just the normal everyday prices.

Interesting to see your sales add says that the Fimco 60 gal 3pt sprayer is around 428.00 and here in Ohio it is 388.00. I have taken flyers in from other stores to request they match the price and they do normally.

Well, I just dropped by my local TSC store in Traverse City, MI (NW Lower) and the price tag on the 5 ft KK II was $1199 /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Further the guy said "that's the price they will be all year long - they never really go on sale"
Seems like a $200 price difference between stores in the same chain is WAAAY too much. Any other TSC experience out there??

Ive seen minor price differences between the 4 stores that are 'local' to me. I always thought it was abit odd for a chain store to have different prices in the same geographical area.. but I just chalked it up to 'maybee' there are regional differences between the stores.. and I just live on the dividing line.. But then.. I'm talking about no more than 10% difference.. ( still that seems like alot... ).

As for the mowers not going on sale.. The year I bought my 5' rotary cutter.. I had been waiting for a sale.. never saw one.. finally got an offer for their credit card.. came with a 10% off single purchase coupon. I used it when I bought my cutter..

Sunday, I went by 2 of the TSCs in the Dallas area. It appears that most of the stores have their red KK equipment on clearance. They're all swapping out for the yellow variety of KK stuff. Although I kinda like the yellow better, I got a 5' red KK rotary cutter for $475 (marked $100 off) at the Mesquite store. I thought it was an excellent deal, and they had 5 or 6 more at that price.

Just purchased the 5 ft model from TSC at Texarkana TX (3/13/04) for $1000 -minus a penny...

wet weather has prevented me from extensive use, but it seems to do a good job - especially in the garden, but also out in the forest (to plant wildflowers, grasses, etc.).

I got a 20 page TSC flyer in this morning's paper, and the 5 ft tiller on page 4 is $999.99.
"Lowest price of the season!"

Oddly enough, some of the other prices in my ad are higher and some are lower than the one in the link RobS posted for the location in TN.

Hey, you guys are lucky. The newest TSC flyer here in NW MI shows the KK II 5ft tiller at $1199!!! I'm told at the store thats the price for 2004 and they'll never be lower than that.
I cant believe that the extra $200 bucks can be justified by "shipping costs"???? Something doesnt pass the "smell test" here in Traverse City, MI.
