I thought that was what a properly setup and maintained slip clutch was for, to prevent damage to the tractor and tiller gear boxes.
Not exactly...

Shock loads of short duration that keep happening over and over will break things that the slip clutch doesn't protect...

Tillers don't slip the clutch every time they hit a rock, but they DO shock load the system...

I wish I had a penny for ever rock I've hit over the years with my tillers!! That's not including all the "other" junk I have hit!!

I agree, again, I’ve abused them to the max. I’ve not wore out a gear box or sprocket or chain. I’ve broken some welds and actually broke a pto shaft. I think with the abuse I’ve put it through, their quality is well worth it and not worth purchasing a more expensive unit. I also don’t Just til fields with some rocks. Mine has been used to till brand new yards backfilled with “fill dirt” aka “stones and crap” before grading, I’ve had rebar, angle iron and all sorts of fun heavy objects wound up in it. I’ve had enough wound up that when doing jobs I carry a crow bar and dewalt cordless grinder. I till unbroken broken in touched ground including rough clay etc. for the cost of the implement, the return on investment is unbelievable.

As for back blades, I’ve not used theirs. I have a few heavy duty Servis plows. Not made anymore but they are equivalent but heavier than. Land pride 35 series.

I would not re weld yours unless it really bothers you. It’s not gonna make a difference moving dirt snow etc. just adjust your 3pt and call it a day.

I've done some searching on this site for gear drive breakage on the KK II tillers on this site. I must be missing it, I and can't find any.
Lots of owners of this tiller over the years on tractorbynet .
If I jamb a rock or other object the slip clutch slips.
If I hit a big rock the tiller just bounces up over

I contacted King Kutter and sent them pictures. They never even sent me a reply.

If they don't eventually respond that certainly says something about their customer service.
I tend to be like a dog with a bone on these things; I would be reaching out to their corporate office directly by phone/email/letter. You need to do what you feel comfortable with. Even an apology from them is worth it.

So how long have you owned the blade? Did you buy it new or used ?

It will be 3 weeks on Monday since I contacted them. I'm done with them ................... other than to post this picture every chance I get

I bought it used about August? Pushed some dirt around and didn't notice anything. Didn't use it again until I started plowing snow in my driveway I just had paved this summer. Wasn't cleaning snow the way it was supposed to

I have the 3-point arms adjusted so it sits level, but if you turn the blade around, it is adjusted the wrong way.

I did welding for a living in a previous life so not a problem to fix after the weather changes.

Like Phillip W said, "it should not have made it out the door."

There's nothing wrong with that blade! It has a built-in crown angle for road maintenance! You must be very lucky as King Kutter normally charges extra for that feature.

On a more serious note, I was looking at a KK blade at TSC last fall and noticed one that had the vertical pivot tube welded on crooked as well.

I'm not sure how KK is responsible for you buying a used blade that could have been bent when you bought it. Just saying.:confused3: or if it's welded on wrong heck of a time to complain now.
