Looks great. I think I had an extra screw when I assembled my grip but I forgot about it when I wrote my parts list on here. So far the relays I used have worked great as far as not burning the switches out again and I have a lot of time on my grapple. It's almost worth building the 3rd function just to learn a little hydraulic knowledge along the way.

Thanks! I think now that we have the 3rd Function & the grapple, Dad is finally coming around to how much fun . . . I mean how useful it is.

You're definitely right about learning! I thought I had already learned a lot just doing my research on all the components and assembly but once I started putting a wrench to things - that's when the real education started!!

Knowing what I know now & with the experience I gained from this build - there are things I would do different if I could start over, but this system seems to be working great and it's very seldom (almost never) a time I get on the tractor to do something that I don't end up using the grapple, so this set-up is getting a pretty good workout.

Hi Steve
Thought I would post how I am making out following your method, got most of the plumbing done today and also made up my QD attachment plates, almost looks factory!
I am mounting my valve down On the bracket that holds the hydraulic filter it gave me good access to run the lines forward to the loader valve and also tie in 1/2" steel HYD lines for the power beyond circuit. Next weekend I will get the steel lines run and the electrical done. Don't think that I will need to use relays the valve only draws 2.5 amp at 12v and the switches on my handle are rated for 3amp at 26v so I will see how it goes without them. I ordered up all my fittings and hoses from Discount HYD online, all of the hoses worked out good on the length I measured them out with Air line before I ordered. I ordered the valve and manifold plate from surplus center and got the Handle from sure grip controls through a local dealer, it is their new AU handle.

That is looking great man. I looked at that same mounting position and I really liked it, I was just afraid we didn't have tools beefy enough to deal with that thickness on the bracket but I sure wanted too. That should make running lines a LOT easier.

QD plate and the plate on the loader tower both look awesome! I looked at the specs on that handle last week (I think you had posted about it somewhere here) - Looks great and I agree that you shouldn't need relays with that one.

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the work once you're done. I appreciate you following up & adding your take to the thread.

The bracket actually wasn't to bad to deal with. 4 bolts to remove it then I drilled and tapped 2 1/4-20 holes to mount my manifold to it. The fun will be bending the hard lines, not a lot of room for checking and measuring, luckily I have a bunch of leftover tubing at work so I can do multiple tries!

Well finally got my install wrapped up and the grapple works great spent a couple hours moving an old brush pile in my field to the burn pile I have on the edge.
Most difficult part was getting the 1/2" steel tubing lined up and bent correctly to line up with the fittings in my valve block and the fittings on the tractor. In the end it came out very clean and should work well for a long time. I was able to find the correct connector to fit the user electrical plug on the back of the tractor so it was easy to tie in for the valve power and as a bonus it was already fused.

Valve block installed and plumbed Hose from Tport on valve block to the rear-end, was fun getting it around the diff lock linkage.

Man that is awesome work. I wish I had the tools / skill to put in hard lines - it looks so much neater / cleaner that way.

And isn't that diff lock linkage a B****ch ?!?! Even with soft lines I had a terrible time getting around that thing in our mounting location.

Top Notch job there man, now everyone is going to want you to make a kit for them. ;)

Thanks Steve, It was a fun project but wouldn't want to make any kits it took me 3 tries to get the bends correct, luckily I have all the tools and spare tubing I could borrow from work. The other big challenge was getting the correct fittings, the place I order them from sent me the incorrect tube fittings 3 times, finally I gave up and was able to find something that would work local.

You have more patience than most, that's for sure. I now have the fittings, but this is on my B list of projects. I will prob use hoses instead of hardlines.
Worked well on several Deeres I did that had similar space issues.

Well since it seems that photobucket is holding my photos for ransom, I went ahead and made a new write-up as a PDF document so I could attach it here.

This is a combination of all my posts above along with comments & remarks on things I would have done different if I had known better.

Again - I hope this helps someone else that wants to give this a try.
