I remember a rule-of-thumb that said you needed 10hp at the pto for each foot of snowblower.

I would not agree with those numbers.

I had a Case 444 (14 Gross HP) with 48" blower (3.5 HP/FT). Yes, it was a bit underpowered, but it cleared my driveway semi-satisfactorily for 18 years.

My GC2300 (22.5 Gross HP) with a 50" blower (5.4 HP/FT) feels very adequate. As does my B3030 (30 Gross HP) with a 63" blower (5.7 HP/FT).

That BX moves snow like my GC and a 250 yard driveway and other areas to clear is my idea of doing things very slowly.. Will it do it yes but it's slow going..
