I have heard Kubotas are prone to tipping on hilly terrain because of a narrow wheel width. I will be operating on hilly terrain and have my eyes on a Kioti DK55. Has a lot of features I am interested in like HP, Cat I&II hitch, lower exhauste pipe (not a stack)and a 69" width. Any input on this or any other tractor better suited for hilly terrain primarily to be used for large areas of grass cutting or hay.
I have a dk55c that has been wonderful. I looked at all of the different units, and thought it fit my need and was a much better product for the dollar. I look at it like a TV, in that I want a good value and I am not going to trade it in on a newer model in a few years. But I want it to last and work with no problems. So resale doesn't even come in to the picture. I suspect some purchaser's of early toyota's and honda's thought the same. I have the 1595s loader, with forks, grapple, bucket, and tree shark, and it has worked very well. After purchase I got a recall from Kioti on the front axle spindles, and the dealer replaced them with much heavier units at no cost. I suspect the new ones are upgraded. I also shred with a heavy duty 6 foot servis, and a 15 foot batwing ( terrain king ) and the electric PTO while abrupt on the smaller shredder, doesn't give me any trouble. I think a light duty shredder with a shear pin would be better served with a slip clutch due to the quick engagement. I was impressed with the fit and finish of this machine and would put that part up against any of the other machines I considered. The only problems were when I lost the glass out of the door and side,(not tractor fault) and have to say I was very impressed that the replacement was readily available, AND was very easy to install by myself onsite. The engineering of this cab was well thought out. Keep in mind that I have old farmall's, a JD 410 backhoe, JD 450C dozer,40 ton excavator, old case 811b, and a MF 5020 (hinomoto I think) and I am familiar with maintenance and repair problems.
Kubota's a fine machines , but I don't think you should be afraid of the Kioti 55, as there a lot of them out there and you won't find a lot of posts on them because I suspect they don't give much cause for comment.

Any input Kioti DK55 or Mahindra 5520 4wd or even Montana 5740. Prices are very close and similar features.

Better than what? I like it cool, not ice cold, but not 70F.
BTW, that's an intersting way to bump a thread back up. ;)

I've owned a couple of Mahindras and a DK55C. The Mahindra 6000 4WD I had was very strong heavier than the Kioti. It had larger Ag tires and a longer wheelbase which made it ride smoother. The Kioti still was smooth but not as torqey(sp). I like them both would buy another of either. The Kioti with the Cab makes a big difference. One example. I bought a disc the other day and really didn't have any way to get it loaded or brought home and it was pouring down rain. Hopped into the Kioti drove a couple miles down the road and hitched it up and brought it home - it was very nice not having to do that out in the rain. Second, is I can cut for much longer times - dust, temp, general comfort of the Kioti.

Axle issue was a long time ago and repaired on in and OUT of warranty units with a field campaign. We even updated units that were on second owners! Pretty good of Kioti huh?
1595 loader is not as strong as the newer KL551. No doubt.
Current DK55 is a beast.

Bogus. The wheels can be adjusted out for side hill stability. There is no company wide tendancy to tip over - not for Kubota, not for anyone.

I would agree as well. I can attest to the Kioti being pretty stable - I don't test it to the extreme but do find some challenging areas and areas I take an alternative approach to. We've got some intense terraces and you definitely have to be careful. Here is a moderate example. Also, my cab probably has a higher center of gravity.
