Price Check Kioti vs kubota

   / Kioti vs kubota #42
I am sorry that my evaluation of the two tractors was interpreted as an attack on your decisions to buy a Kioti. Daedong knows that the US market is very price oriented. The history of Daedong tractors is that they got into the tractor business when Kubota was looking for a low cost manufacturer to partner with to build a low cost tractor line. The 02 series Kubota was assembled by Daedong, utilizing their own transmission and the Kubota engine and sheet metal. Along side of the 02 Kubota, Daedong stole the designs and introduced their own tractor. This resulted in a lawsuit and a parting of the ways. The "Kioti" was an exact copy of everything when they were first introduced, including the orange paint. This was settled in a law suit which is why the paint color changed in the early 2000s.

I work for a company that manufactures components for the on and off highway OEMs. We supply Daedong, Kubota, John Deere and all of the others. Kubota, being a typically Japaneses company, is firm on design and fierce on price negotiations. Daedong is fierce on pricing but is always looking to cut corners on design and material to get the overall price down.

Look at the Daedong literature and they claim the engines are tested to 2000 hours. In my mind, that is a disposable tractor. So when owners say they have had no problems and they already have 200 or 400 hours, give it time.
Really. This literature states 20,000 running hour engine testing. New Kioti Engine a Triple Threat - orchardandvine.net

Resale isn't just about the dollar amount that you get for something, it also covers how long it will take to sell. A guy at an auction that I was at was buying a Kioti tractor that sold pretty cheap. He said that nobody will buy them used in Texas, but he can sell them up North if the right person comes along. It's just like comparing Toyota to Kia. Same year, same mileage and similar equiped, the used Toyota is going to see a lot faster then the Kia.

Just don稚 use the Toyota as an example. I owned 2 of them and the were both very disappointing considering all the hype. But again so have many other cars that people say are good. Don稚 know anything about Kia but My Hyundai went and went with very little maintenance sort of like they said the Toyota was supposed to.

OP lives to close to ann arbor, weird folks live there.LOL

Sounds like advertising hype BS to me. 20,000 hours testing on an engine equates to 834 continuous days running with no breaks for fuel, oil changes or maintenance of any kind and 834 24 hour days equals 2 1/4 years. All BS.

Having said that, Lincoln Electric in Euclid, Ohio used to have a test facility where they ran their engine driven welders 24/7 until they puked. None of them lasted that long, diesel or gas. Kioti don't pass my smell test in that claim.

Based on that 20,000 hours Kioti would have had to test that engine for 2.24 years. With only 450 hours on mine I wish I had that test motor in my tractor. it has been back to the dealership 3 times for the same failed emissions problem in the last 10 weeks and we still don't know what is wrong with it. I have no idea when I will be getting it back. Parts are on order for it but I don't know what parts. I'm not a very happy Kioti owner right now. I am seriously considering selling this NX4510HST tractor and buying a Pre-Teir IV tractor. It was great for the first 350 hours. If anything this tractor was used mostly for mowing and not abused by any means. It has always been maintained according to the book. I'm considering painting it bright yellow as in a Lemon color.

If I had the same troubles that you have been threw with your kioti tractor I would feel the same way.Hope they get your problems taken care of SOON..

So would I.
But I haven't. Fact is my Kioti DK 35 has never been back to the dealer in the 18 years (2210 hours) I have owned it.

I've always found it peculiar that many of Kioti's engines match Kubota's piston size and stroke right down to the fraction of a millimeter. I would love to see two similar engines dissected and internal parts compared.

I can tell you my experience. I had a trouble free 2009 Kubota B3030 (open station) that I bought used in 2012 with ~120hrs. I sold it in December 2018 and purchased a Kioti DK4710SE cab. Main reason for sale is that I needed something that was heavier and could lift more with the FEL. I looked at a comparable Kubota because I really like the 3030, but it was at least $7k more so I took a chance on the Kioti. So far I really like my Kioti. It hasn't given me any problems in the year I've had it. The biggest difference I see between the two brands is paint quality. The Kubota was much better. I have several chips on the Kioti and I think it's just from cheap powered coat. I also notice the Kioti uses more fuel and likes more throttle, but to be fair here the Kubota only had to move 2k in weight while the Kioti is almost double that, has 15 more hp, runs an AC, and has to deal with tier 4 emissions. The HVAC on the kioti really works well. I think the feathering on the FEL worked a little better on Kubota, but the Kioti is fine. So far I'm pretty happy. My engine is a CRDI so its tier 4 but it doesn't have DEF. The DPF fills up every ~50hrs and the engine will want a regen. It runs at high RPM for ~30 minutes to clean itself. If I ran it at higher RPM for my tasks then I think it would go longer between cycles. The loader is a beast. I've lifted 1500lbs of concrete without rear weight. I think it maxes out at 2600 and I don't doubt it.

When I purchased my LS I saved a lot over the Kubota I wanted. I decided if a i was going to put on 400 hrs a year...the Kubota might be justified. I wanted a tractor that would last 20 years and I believe the Kubota would do that.

But in the first six months I have 65 hrs on the machine. That is about what I figured...80-120 hrs a year. The LS was likely to never wear out in my lifetime. The Kioti should be just as good. No Kioti dealers near me or I would have looked at them.

It is unlikely the less expensive tractors will be equal to a Kubota...but do you need that level of performance. In my case I saved well over $10k and only time will tell if I made the correct decision.

Gee, that is a whopping 122 hours per year average. I take it you get it out once in a while to blow the cobwebs out?.....

Limited on time for that.
Some of use here work for a living. But you probably wouldn't know what that means.
Did you average that out all by yourself, or did you require help??

I've only got about 650 hours up on my 2006 Kioti. Might get a bigger one one day and keep the old one just because I can.

I don't like the way the floor is all open under the seat of the Kubotas and the foot pedal seems twisted sideways after having the Kioti. My mate has a New Kubota with a 4 in 1 bucket and it slams shut and open. No real smooth control.

Have your mate install some .030 flow restrictors at each port of each cylinder. Those will make the operation much smoother and manageable.

Mr5030. Those M9000's are decent little tractors. Neither one of yours would be considered high hours, obviously.

I have a DK90 that has about 2000hrs and I would say it finally feels broken in. I've operated an m9000 and liked it. It's no better than my Kioti, I can assure you.

Every now and then a product comes along that is a bargain for what it is. In 2013, Kioti was that product for me. I saw no obvious difference in quality between my DK90 and an M108S at the time. So I saved 30 grand and bought the Kioti. The Kubota had more power, but had a weird power curve, so it doesn't feel like quite the discrepancy you might imagine. If my Perkins was tuned to 100hp like some of these particular motors are it would be all of that m108 and then some, I believe (a guess). My DK is within a few hundred pounds of that Kubota (which, as usual is light for its size), and very close to the same torque with a flatter power curve.

So I bought it and couldn't be more pleased with it, so far. It only has 2000 hrs. At 4000 I'll know more..

Kubota, like Kioti is barely considered a viable tractor brand in these parts up until recent years when a few have started showing up..
