TSC is sending a 10% off coupon through emails and possibly off their web site. I need a back blade but the King Kutter seems light duty. It will be used primarily for snow. With the coupon , a 6' er would be less than $200. Is this KK worth anything or do I sound like I just fell off the truck !

For snow removal, it should be fine. If you're going to do any grader work, just take smaller bites. Otherwise, you might bend the moldboard.

King Kutter offers 3 differant rear blades
Light duty (the $200 blade), medium duty (mid $400) and heavy duty (mid $700)
For snow removal the lighter duty blade should be OK, for dirt work etc. the medium or heavy duty blades would be far better.

I find my 6' KK back blade works pretty good for snow, behind my B2910 Kubota.

For dirt I use a box blade...also KK...also works pretty good for the buck spent.

I don't think I used the back blade for more than a foot of snow at any one time though...

The only ones I've seen at the local store here were the lighter class. I agree with what you all are saying, thanks. There is another TSC about 40 miles from me, I'll call this morning. They might have a mid grade. That coupon is good for 7/2-7/5.

I've used the 84" light duty KK blade to clear heavy snow to the top of the blade. It is perfectly fine for snow removal. For snow you don't want a heavy blade since it will just make it more likely you will damage the ground. I also mount it backwards for clearing snow so it doesn't dig in.

If you were going to do dirt work you will would want something that tilts, besides wanting a heavier blade.

David,
I don't see anything on KingKutter's web site about 3 different grades of rear blades, only the standard and heavy duty. While I can't offer any help on the standard, I have one of the HD-RB-84 rear blades and it is a brute. It weighs in at almost 700# and has tilt and angle. My driveway is 30 years worth of compacted AB3 crushed rock. My Landpride 2566 box blade will barely loosen surface rocks but the KK heavy duty rear blade will dig down into it like it was soft dirt. I purchased it from Atwoods and got $100.00 knocked off the price because it had a couple of dents in the frame from rough handling during shipping. The only problem (if you can call it that) is that I had to mount the link pins to the inside of the frame because as it comes, I couldn't spread the arms on my 4400 enough to get them hooked up without undoing my sway arms. While the biggest complaint I hear about KingKutter is the quality of the paint jobs (and it is very poor), I currently have 5 KingKutter implements and have never had a weld break or had them not perform as I expected.

I don't do snow removal with mine, as we just don't get much, but I'd think that pushing tilled dirt around might be similar.

I've never had a problem with lightweight KK 72" blade, and the only time I could foresee a problem is if you were digging in to a really large pile with only one corner of the blade.

Doing that with a large tractor might bend the mold-board, but I think my tractor would likely devleop wheel spin before bending the board.

BTW, I also have a number of King Kutter implements, including mowers and a tiller, and they have always been solid performers for me.

Hoss,You're right , there's only two grades. One offers an optional bracket to slide the blade side to side.

My local TSC has two 5ft blades. One is orange and costs $188 and the other is gold and costs $199. The color is the only difference in them that I could notice.
I think I am going to get the orange one with my 10% off coupon.
