Pick almost any product made in the orient and you will find 10 exact copies with a different paint job and sticker. Impossible to tell who's is the knockoff. :)

A lot of time they are not knock offs, the same Chinese factory just changes colors and stickers and sells the same thing to someone else.

They all learned it from GM, Chrysler, and Ford back in the 60's and 70's...

Change the grill and the name plates and VOILA! it is a different car!

A few years back I built up an OEM business for network security servers and I made it a SPECIFIC point that you had to open the chassis and examine the motherboard to prove we were making the systems for 5 out of 7 different competitors...

Much of it is VERY legit. Look up the ownership. I know Whirlpool bought Maytag, and then I believe Haier bought them. If you dig, MANY companies are all under one umbrella, and also the "Contract Manufacturers" who build these items are really only 3 or 4 different companies worldwide...

Who makes JD engines? Kioti/Bobcat and at least in the past Cub Cadet, Montana, and some other tractor were all the same, right?

Marketing, thats what they call it...

Be well,
David

I remember going to a big GM foundry in Defiance, Ohio. They were doing castings for Ford, Chrysler, Mazda, Nissan, and in one area, casting a crankshaft 50 ft long for a marine diesel. I was told that non GM made up over 30% of their biz. You never know who is making what these days.

I would love to find a set of knock-offs for my old Chevy!! It was an option for that year and are almost as hard to find (or pay for) as hen's teeth.
