Got a 1995 Craftsman lawn tractor with a 15 hp Kohler engine. Starts good cold, spark goes away after it runs awhile, thus it stalls and won't restart until it cools. Suspect the ingnition module/magneto. Any history/advice one can share before I purchase new one? Thanks!

I would try a new plug if you haven't already. They can behave the same as a coil sometimes.

pto this is just a shot in the dark but i have a 18.5 B&S on a Craftsman LT 1000 and messed with the problem of mowing for 1/2 hour and it would shut down, then restart mow for 10 min same thing..... never failed to start and run strong for a while. This came on slowly . Turned out to be a fuel cutoff solonoid was getting weak while it ran or maybe heat. but it would act ok if you just turned the key on it clicked like it was working. So just as a test , I unscrewed it from the bottom of the bowl, disabled the little plunger(read, broke it off!) off the fuel solenoid , screwed it back in, taped the wire back and its been fine since the last 1/2 of last season and all this season, just have not spent the $45 for a new solenoid. Like i say this may be totallyoff base but I know how aggravated I was with it

Since you said the spark goes away, it sounds to me like you're certain the problem is electrical. I would be looking at replacing that ignition module for sure, but first, I'd pull the "kill wire" that grounds out the ignition module. It's not likely, but you could be getting a ground on that line from a faulty safety switch or even the key switch. We used to use component cooling compound in a spray can on electronic PCBs. Something like that sprayed on the ignition module might cool it enough to make it start working and definitively identify it as failing from heat. Of course, the problem is normally you have to remove a flywheel just to get to it.
