Here's a downhill story, funny only because everything turned out ok although it could have ended in tragedy.
Years ago a good friend bought a lot that had a trailer on it. The lot was on a hill and the previous owner had stacked a pile of bricks on the high spot property line. I asked him what he would do with them and he said no problem since he had inherited his late Dad's small tractor and a trailer.
So one day he backs up to that brick pile, loads onto trailer. Then he thought he could ease downhill taking them to a dumpsite just down the road.
Once he started, load was way too heavy and it took off. Luckily no cars were coming as he swerved out onto the main road. It was downhill all the way for a few miles to a small town on a twisty road.
To this day he has no idea how fast he was going, he said all he could do was hang on and pray. He said the convenience store at the bottom was a blur when he went by.
Apparently it popped out of gear and brakes were useless.
Past the convenience store, across rr tracks he went until the road finally went uphill. He picked up bricks that had spilled out on the way back, made it to the dump, back home for a few drinks!
