Not much way to shorten a cab version which is what the OP is asking about. IF it was just the ROPS, then I would second the cut and re-weld to shorten.My brother took the top half of tops off, cut off a piece that went just above the pivot pin hole, drilled another pivot pin hole and reinstalled. No welding, nothing to weaken the structure. VIOLA, A SHORTER ROPS. !
For the OP, not much choice than to install a taller door after verifying the total height. Lets not forget that there might be some snow or ice in the doorway at times that would make the tractor a bit taller so give at least a 2" clearance minimum.
There are some door frames that can be installed with minimum to the ceiling clearance. If you only have 8 foot ceiling height, you might get a door with 7.5' clearance so then just have to modify the spanner beam at the door.
