Kubota b2920
I don't know if this is operator error or I have a problem. I have a 1 year old Kubota B2920. When I use the control lever to lift the FEL it will only go up 1/2 way. In order to make it drop I have to push the shift lever down (like it drops into another slot) and lower it. When I do this there is not control of the downward drop, It will continuing dropping (at a steady rate) until I pull it out of the "indent" position. The FEL will lift and lower normally if I use the curl and uncurl feature at the same time. It just won't work up or down by itself. Any ideas or suggestions?

First thing I would try is lower the FEL to the ground, shut the tractor off and move the joystick in all directions to relieve any trapped pressure. Then disconnect and reconnect the quick disconnects on the raise lower circuit. Make sure they are latched fully.

From what you are describing it sounds like one of them may be partially connected and blocking the flow at higher flow rates.

Wow you have a weird problem.. First of all it doesn't sound like an operator problem.. The 'indent' you're talking about is the float function and it appears to be working fine according your description. You should be able to lower the FEL just by pushing the lever (i.e. not locking it in the float position), and you should be able to raise it without using the curl function either.

What happens when you reach half-way on the FEL and it stops? Do you hear the relief kick in? Does it slow at all before stopping?

Maybe somebody smarter than me will have an idea. I'm clueless

sounds like one of the hydro fittings is loose or the three point hitch lever is not in the free position. I have had it stuck on lift and it drains just enough power to make every thing not work right. for what ever reason if it is locked down it doesn't affect anything.

I'm in another State right now so I can't run out and see if these suggestions work. I'll check the 3 pt hitch position (it is possible I hit it while dismounting from the wrong side of the horse) and I'll try the connection hoses on the FEL. I did detach and reattach before posting but I'll try again. Another thing I should have checked is the hydro fluid level. I'll check that too. Thanks for the suggestions.

Install or use a hyd gage and tell us the pressure readings.

Do one thing at a time and note the results. If you feather the valve, will it do a complete cycle, as in steady up and steady down. Does the relief come on at any time?

Look at the spools and see if they move the same, and if not, check out the caps on the bottom for corrosion, rust, check the springs , etc.

Donn12 called it exactly. Apparantly I moved the 3 point hitch lever to the forward (lift) position. I got back to CA, fired up the tractor, used the fel and had the same problem. I moved the 3 pt. lever to the neutral position and the fel worked normally. Operator error but you guys saved me a service call. The power of the internet works again. Thanks for everyone's help.

I have had a similar issue - but the engine has somewhat of a laboring sound when the 3 point is not in the neutral or free position. As soon as I put the 3 pt lever in neutral the engine idles or runs without strain.

I didn't notice the labored engine sound but maybe I wasn't listening for it.
