Kubota B3030 RPM needle stuck at max on the dial ...

Hey Folks
My B3030 RPM needle got stuck at max on dial & never came back down while i tried cold starting in frigid minus 20c, It does run fine & accelerate fine & have been using it that way for over a year now. If anyone had this issue or knew whats the cause would love to get it fixed.

I think that’s a cable drive tachometer. The cable is probably broken. It’s not that hard if a repair.

I think that if the cable was broken,the tach/hourmeter would read zero.
Is the hourmeter still adding hours?
Perhaps the gauge head needs repair?

The hour meter still works & adds up while running, I doubt if its cable inside.

Perhaps drill a tiny hole in the instrument face.
Think tiny hole for odometer reset button.
Reach inside the gauge with a bent paper clip to persuade the needle back to bottom of scale.
This has worked for me before with an gauge cluster with the tiny hole.
Not sure if the gauge would cloud up after this?

Never had that idea of pin hole, may as well try to open the cluster, shouldnt be that hard..i guess.

Since you have a cab,the hole should have minimal effect.
Auto dash clusters have few issues with the hole.

It sounds to me like it needs a gentle nudge to get it unstuck. Pretty easy on an open station to remove the dash panel from the tractor and then the instrument cluster from the inside of the dash panel. A cabbed B3030 may be more difficult.

I'm curious how the needle got max'ed out in the first place. You say you were starting the engine when it happened. Isn't the gauge's max rpm 3000 or even more. I've seen car tachometers jump to the max when turning the ignition to 'ON' but I don't think my Kubota does that. Or maybe it does and I just haven't noticed.

Apparently it was icy cold when this happened.
We all know extreme cold shrinks everything,and all bets are off.
I agree the needle needs a nudge.
Cab model should not be more difficult.
