I am thinking about buying a tractor from my uncle. It is a 1996 B7100. 16hp 62"mm, upgraded when bought front end loader from factory when purchased. Good condition, stored inside etc. Around 500 hours on the unit. He is going to sell it to me for $5k with a car hauler to haul it on. I am sure this is a great deal, just wanted to check and make sure, and also see if there is any problems with this unit????

I have about 2.5 acres and will use it for around the yard, some small landscaping projects etc. Mostly to mow and occasionally move dirt, rock etc.

Does anyone have a pic of one with a front end loader on it????

Looks like a heck of a lot of tractor for 2.5 acres, but you can't beat the price. You say that the package has a 62" belly mower? Tough to pass up.

Yeah it has a 60 or 62" mm belly mower. with bagger kit. I will probably sell the bagger kit, and put multch blades, or gator blades if they make them. It is over kill as far as mowing, I have a x300 john deere with 42" mower, so this will be more for tilling, grading 350' of road, and leveling an area to build a shop, prepair for concrete in places etc...

I had an older B6100E and they are tough little machines. Go for it!!! Even if you later find you are not using it enough to justify you can easily get your money back. I mowed the 1/2 acre town lot and part of the 20 acres where we are now living with the B6100.

Don't pass on this deal if it's what floats your boat. Good machine for 2.5 acres and a good price. The carrier itself will cost you no less than $1500 somewhere there abouts.

Thats a great deal. You'll love it... I had a B7300 which was real similar. Great little tractor and capable of more than most people would think.

As you can see, Egon has a B7100 and I had a 1995 B7100 with a front end loader for 4 years to use on my 10 acres and my brother's 10 acres. I filled an old 15' deep pond that wouldn't hold water (slow job with a 4' box blade and that 4' loader, but it'll certainly do the job if you have enough time). I mowed with a 4' Bush Hog rotary cutter (no finish mower), and I did a lot of garden tilling with a Bush Hog tiller. I traded up to a B2710 after 4 years primarily for power steering and a removable front end loader. Of course the additional horsepower and speed were nice, too, but that little B7100 can do a lot of work.

And it sounds to me like you're getting a bargain.

Going to pick it up today, and very excited about it. I have a list of chores for it already this weekend... How much will this tractor weigh with the front end loader and mowing deck on it? I was guessing just under 2k lbs? I am not sure if the small car hauler has trailer breaks on it. I don't have a break controller on my truck (2005 GMC 2500HD Duramax/Allison). I should be OK towing that over a mountain pass without trailer breaks right??

Thanks,

Mike

I've never weighed mine but I think your weight estimate is about right.

I recall reading somewhere the tractor weights around 1K. the loader and the mower can't possibily add up to another 1K so the whole machine should be a little less then 2K.

I've hauled mine with the front end loader, finish mower and a back blade on my car hauler and hardly noticed it back there (but my trailer does have breaks).

My neighbor borrowed a B7100 and pulled it with his Jeep on a single axle trailer up and down a mountain pass without breaks and didn't have any problems. (twice) (DISCLAMIER: that doesn't mean I think it was safe, a good idea, or that I'd ever try it)

All that said, If you can use a tandam axle trailer with surge breaks (no controlers necessary) you'll be much safer and have a more plesent trip.

Disclaimer: My actions would probably be classified as stupid.

I towed home my B7100 with front end loader on a 5x8, single axle trailer behind my Honda CRV.

TractorData.com lists the weight at 1040 lbs. I'm sure that's without FEL.

I think you will be VERY happy with this machine. It will work and work and work....easy to use, low fuel consumption, nimble, strong, well-built. Heck, you even get metal fenders.

Congratulations.

Guess I am a little over safe when it comes to pulling trailers... My boat is a tandem axle trailer with surge breaks and the whole package weights less than 4k lbs. I do not like towing trailers over 3.5k lbs without breaks, even behind my diesel. Hit a deer once towing a 4k lbs trailers and could have stopped if the thing had breaks...

The B7100 is a fine little machine, but be extra careful with it for awhile until you get thoroughly familiar with it, because it's very easy to turn it over with any weight in the front end loader. Keep the loader low when moving and turn slowly. I never turned mine over, but I had both rear wheels off the ground a time or two and had it up on 3 wheels a few times. That's certainly get the adrenaline flowing.;)

I have had mine in the back of my 3/4 ton, bucket up over the cab. the truck didn't look over loaded and probably would have driven ok. But i couldn't find anything strong enough to tie it down to so i didn't actually transport it that way. I don't recomend that method of transport. Point is its a light, small machine but it will move mountains. (just not very fast)

In most states, brakes are not required for under 3000 lbs. Your tow / haul mode in the Allison will suffice. Allow it to work without riding your brakes too hard. It will serve you well. I haul a B7800 with implements on a dual axle utility trailer, towing with a Dura / Alli, no problems.

D@MMIT BOY!.. The trailer is one thing, the CRV is another... May we see pics? :D

Sorry but I didn't take any pics so that there wouldn't be any evidence of the stupid things I've done in life. Anyway, the CRV pulled it nicely and the tractor balanced out with about 100 lbs of tongue weight. I'm thankful I didn't have to make any emergency stops though.
