WELL -- here's my problem:
My church bought this tractor YEARS ago as some ground is soft and it had fairly good maintenance while the older gentleman was taking care of the ground.
When he got too feeble, others tried to mow etc. with it and other than the deck {concrete curb stops, curbing etc. were hard on it!} it was in decent shape.
One member "rebuilt" the motor several years ago and it ran great ever since -- then developed a knocking sound.
Our youth pastor at the time said his research showed it could be an injector and bought three new injectors -- then he lost his position and moved.
As the senior pastor at the time is a relative and I have fixed just about everything he owns {weed eaters, blowers, chain saws, riding mowers etc.} he asked me to see if I could fix it.
SO -- I bring it to my shop, listen to the "knocking sound" and think -- injector?!
I replaced the 3 injectors -- knocking sound still there -- imagine that!
Ran out of time to do more trouble shooting and as the church had bought a new Z-Turn there wasn't a need to hurry so I moved it out of the shop {needing the room} and as I was driving it around to the side -- BANG/OIL! -- I'm thinking a broken rod through the block on right front!
Looking for a motor -- $4K to $6K!
With its age, condition {I had repaired the deck etc.} I was seeing a value of $4500+ with it running -- now I'm guessing $1300!
Anyone interested in either rebuilding/replacing/buying the whole tractor? I just don't seem to be able to find the time at 72 and "retired" {?
} and still running a storage business, Bush Hog business and a small flying business -- oh, and I have two daughters who "call dad -- he can fix it" {they even had a T-shirt made for me with a big screw on it -- "IF DAD CAN'T FIX IT, WE'RE ALL SCREWED!"
I'm open for suggestions,
John
