I find it is a necessity to not have the wedge shaped clamps too snug in order to allow a little give to get the pins in.

Do you have them flush with the back end of the frame, extended a little or retracted? Do you tighten them AFTER getting the pins in? It seems like the whole thing is contingent on the position of those wedges and it's not easy to move the frame around once it's on the bumper.
