Kubota BX series ridiculous transmission

Let's be honest...brakes have never been a strong suit of the BX

If I can put a decent leg on my brake and lock it in using the parking latch, THEN drive around my yard with the power of my HST easily overcoming the holding power of the brake, that is what I'd call "lack of brakes".

Can't speak to the "50 or 60 series" tractors, but all of the "00 and 30 series" BX tractors have brakes that are, dare I say, worthless.

My brakes were pretty weak also. I'm pretty sure my son mowed for several minutes with the brakes on last weekend. I had to adjust the slack out of the brakes to get them to work at all when he was done with it. I do think they hold alot better now. There is a procedure for adjusting the brakes in the owners manual. There appears to be so many defeciences in the BX2350, its a miracle they sold any.;)

Looks like "itsjustme" has found a good fix from his dealer on the 50's series transmission!!

LETS PUSH KUBOTA TO GIVE ALL US 50"S SERIES OWNERS THE SAME FIX FOR FREE!!!!!!

Ummmm...I thought we were talking about tractors? We are talking about tractors, 50 series tractors. So because I've only driven a 50 series but don't own one, chose not to buy one (wish I had tried it as you did before I bought it) (in part) because of the way the transmission feels, my contributing discussion to this thread is relegated to your shaking you head at me, "Blessing my heart", and "Praying for me"? Thanks. Your welcome.:)

This fact is undeniable: Folks have, indeed, complained about a slowly reacting transmission AND a quickly reacting transmission. THE OP complained in two different threads about a slowly reacting transmission and a quickly reacting transmission. This, my friend, is the 'hoot' I was speaking of. "But, is the object of your hoot.. Kubota that they could mess up a transmission in forward and in a different way reverse or is OP the hoot because he has 2 different issues. If it's kubota I repent if it's the op then "Bless your heart".)

How this somehow betrays any opinion I may have about the Heros of our country's past is a bit of an insult, if I may say. Nothing was said about your opinions of us Heros it was using that as an example of people expressing their opinions as being more or as valid as those that own/use daily over a period of time a tractor or have been to Viet Nam. I'm not sure how other's thoughts or input on the matter are not relevent (If it's ridiculing the owner with the problem I'm not sure it is relevent. Do you feel all of the comments made on this topic have been relevant?) and unwelcome ( I didn't say unwelcome but if it's ridiculing an owner that they don't know, then to me (my opinion, not the boards or anyone else on the board) it's unwelcome but ...they can and will keep posting) simply because they don't own a 50 series.

Not cool. I don't see how I, in any way, shape, or form, have "ridiculed" anyone except the guy that made the original video to show how "awful" the 50 series transmission is. I can replicate that on my BX2230 any day of the week. Furthermore, I have never denied the unfortunate way the 50 series transmission stops in reverse and have EXPRESSED MY DESIRE for a reasonable fix to be offered by Kubota. What's so bad about any of that? There is nothing bad about that. That is actually good.
My participation concerning this issue is based on me owning a 50 series but only until Monday. I have owned several Kubotas and still own a few and buying another one Monday, not a 50 series. I'm not anti Kubota. I've driven several HST's and this one is faulty. The referring back to the "exaggerated" video and the remarks being made that people can't be satisfied because they are complainers takes the "discussion" away from the issue of this 50 series faulty transmission and moves it to individuals. Never mind the ill fitting hood. After Monday I'll not respond or read this thread because it won't apply to me. Any new thread praising or denigrating the 50 series HST will probably bring a response concerning my experience with the one I owned for a bit over one year. My opinion is that it's a fantastic tractor except for the abrupt stop in reverse which was such a bother to me that I got rid of it at great financial lose. Hopefully I will have forgotten all about it within 2 or 3 years. If I misinterpreted your input, I am truly sorry and "bless my heart" and "pray for me".:D John

Not "funny, ha-ha" type of hoot. More of a "friken' A, can't-win-for-losing" type of hoot. Specifically, the OP complained in February about a slowly reacting transmission, and now lays it on really thick complaining about a quickly reacting transmission.

As Mr. Rdsaustintx pointed out, there are complaints levied against Kubota for fast AND slow reactions in the HST. Quite literally, it is impossible to make all users happy. As Bill Cosby said, "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."

The link landed right on my post...Thought I was the object of ridicule, again. Not that that would be anything new.:)

Dumb question...What is the difference, and how do I know what series we are taling about here..I don't see anything on mine beyond BX23TLB.

Well here is my partial solution. I also own a BX1850. When I tested it at the dealer I also noticed but figured it not a big concern. I also figured that it was a breaking in issue, assuming it would go away. Well its up to 50hrs and it is still not gone. I have now gotten used to it. I also find that unless you have a rather long foot that it is hard to straddle the forward and reverse pedal at the same time. So I added a little mini pedal to the shaft of the forward pedal so that my foot can easily straddle both pedals. I also found this very helpful with the tranny stopping issue because I now have better control when coming to a stop.

Hmm-that looks interesting. How did you go about making that extra pedal. Did you make a thread on this ?
