kUBOTA BX23S - wights, tire chains or ballast box ?

Turf tires wouldn't make much difference on my driveway where 3/4 of it is an uphill battle. Chains is the only way I am getting the Max out when there is ice. I have taken it through about a foot of snow across the flat yard of about 100 yards to my Dad's driveway where I could get out to circle back and plow down hill to clear a path in my driveway. But I still couldn't make it back up mine and had to make the circle several times to finish my driveway. After sliding on the ice and cracking the siding on the corner of my house with my rear blade, chains became the painfully obvious solution. I have considered front wheel chains just for the sake of better steering control but haven't sprung for them yet.
I知 on my 4th winter with my Mahindras Max about 2700 lbs with FEL and rear blade. Never had any problem clearing the driveway or around the barn without any chains. I do have turf tires which I think is better in snow than R1 or R4 tires. Think I only have had to engage the diff lock once

Though I built my own ballast box, you could always use barbell weights... You can find them at yard and garage sales from "retired" weigh lifters.... Recently got 200 pounds for $40...
