Also used Marvel Mystery Oil religiously (recommended by local dealer)...

The well known Spicer diesel fuel lubricity study pointed out that MM made diesel fuel lubricity WORSE. Maybe your dealer is selling future repairs or just uninformed?

- I am also relocating the electric fuel pump in engine compartment. Too much of a pain to access (nothing to do with current problem tho)..
.

I don't understand this- it is right there very easy to access. I'd be cautious about raising it, may be below tank level for a good reason. Pumps don't suck near as well as they push. :2cents:

Thanks for the information and the link. Since I'm new to tractors this is good information!

Is that a galvanized steel elbow I see in the first pic ?

Nope, not this time...

Thanks for the compliments Chilly807 and Deano! I thought about it for a while... before I came up with the solution for all of my considerations.

A side note, when I installed all of this I was able to fill/bleed the Racor filter bowl by gravity, then took off the fuel line at the injector pump and ran the lift pump (by turning the key to the "run" position) until fuel started to come out of the line. I re-connected the fuel line at the injector pump and was able to start the tractor right up.

Glad to hear your problem is solved and the
mule is out of the hospital and working again.

I hope you can purchase a Racor diesel fuel
filter or one of their water removing funnels
to keep the water out of the fuel system
shortly as it will be money well spent to
prevent this from happening again.

the 4 cylinder turbo diesel runns fine but when it sits for a while between mowings it losses the consint fuel pressure to the injectors so every time you go to start it you have prime it or you have ti habd pump the fuel filter fuel so it will run. if you just use the starter it will start and die. you do this about a dozen times untill there enough fuel to a couple injectors it will run but misses untill all the air is out of the system and then it runs like good and operates good

I was just re-reading this thread after the parts guy at my local dealership asked me if I had replaced my fuel filters recently... It's a bit hard to believe, but it's been 5 years since I installed the Racor filter. I use fuel from busy sources and always use a filter funnel. I'm still on the original Racor filter element and have only drained a bit of fuel out of the bowl once or twice, but that was just because I was down there anyway and it seemed like a good idea. I've seen no contamination in the bowl, water or otherwise. I have no regrets about installing the Racor, but the filter funnel seems like a VERY good investment if used religiously, which I do.

8 years of Racor use now and no regrets of problems with the installation. I don't think I've replaced the filter element either, but may have in a weak moment just for the heck of it.

My BX25 would not start. I narrowed it down to a fuel problem. I had new fuel and filters and the fuel pump worked. So I took off the injection pump and one of the four little screws holding a plate onto the pump was about half way out. The plate had a slot in it where a lever stuck out. I had to align that lever with a slotted part in the motor, by moving the cut off solenoid to make the parts line up. After putting it all back together, it started. I don't see how that screw being loose could have caused it not to start, but it was very odd that it was so loose, and I saw it right away as it was nearly all the way out!
