Good luck with the head office in Ontario. I called them a couple of times and got referred back to the dealer. I was looking for detailed information, not complaining about anything, but the attitude was not what I had hoped. It's been my experience that both the "technical assistance" people (if there ARE any), and the regional reps are well insulated from the customers unless there's a huge problem. My question wasn't that big, I guess.

I like the tractor, the parent company I'm not so impressed with. Thank God for a good dealer who really makes an effort to keep me happy.

As to the 2660 debacle, well... I'm better off not commenting on that unless I know all the details and I don't. Mowing 47 acres with a 2660... pack a lunch in the morning.

Wow..don't know how old the OP is or what his life experiences are but I figured out very early in life to never ever trust ANY salesman unless I've verified everything independently. Normally when I research a major purchase I go after it knowing far more than the salesman!
Hope it works out but -dang- due diligence didn't happen on the buyers side.
In this age of the internet it is far easier than it used to be to study up on something in advance.

Tough decision, lots of good points. The 2660 is a great tractor but efficiency is the key. He put a tektite deluxe cab on it and said it will keep me warm when pushing snow (by the way this was the breaking point for me cause it was hard putting up with the other things this tractor had to do but shouldn't have.) but when I'm frozen solid, have snow in the cab up to my knees from blowing into the cab from the holes in the control consoles and the windows are so frosted and fogged up I couldn't see anything it was my breaking point. I'm now trying to recover from getting sick from it and am trying to figure out how to make it work for me by plugging the holes but still allowing control movement and finding and upgrading the heater to something that will actually heat things up.

I don't want to defend the dealer since I wasn't there but was there a chance that they put you into this tractor because they just couldn't get you into something larger (since you said they wouldn't finance a larger tractor)? Maybe there was some confusion? I'm not sure why a dealer would put 47 acres and a 2660 together for any reason but I would like to believe that only a used car salesman in the shady side of town would mismatch something this badly. When you say bales are you talking round bales?

Is 47 acres really unreasonable? How much time do you have?
At 5 mph and a 5 ft cut that would come to about 2 acres per hour.
So we are talking 24 hours.
So if I have a big expensive tractor and can do it 6 times as fast, you do it in 4 hours? But what do you do for the rest of the day?
I dont have much $$ but I have plenty of time, why not mow for 3 days and put some hours on my tractor since I expect it to get thousands, otherwise I have purchased a hoss of a machine that I put 50 hours a year on?
Is there any logic in that or am I being silly?

That was the max I could get financed for but I also (and the dealer knew this cause he talked to the guy.) my father in law could also put down if needed $20,000-$25,000 witch could allow me to go bigger if it was needed. Large square bales and round bales.

Actually it did take me 3 days to do it. But I have a herd of 35 horses to look after as well, some need training, some are fouling, some are being gelded, ect. So getting the pasture done in a timely manner is nessesary. Plus while I'm in the pasture the horses have to be locked in a holding pen cause they like to follow close and around the tractor (including behind where everything is discharged) and injury is very much possible.

Australia is just like this too ! I even ticked the "don't send to Dealer , answer yourself" box and they ignored that one totally. My Company
contact said they're total tossers ............

Well I can see I stirred a few things up, getting a good deal after the papers are signed can be very difficult but I once learned a while back that there are three p's that always work, Patience, politeness and Prayer. The most important is the last one, the first two just keep you from hurting yourself. I was once told if you have a complaint don't go to anyone on earth, go to God, tell Him your troubles, He will help you. Don't believe me, try it, you don't even have to believe it just try and then let me know. of course if you won't ask He can't interfere so He can't help you.

I have done this for quite a while now and have never been refused, just look at my posts, everything ends good.

I'll say a prayer for you tonight.

God bless all of you.

Jim

Have you gone back to the dealer and told them that you can get extra money? I would like to think they would want to help you get the right tractor for your needs. If not maybe a different dealer. I would love to think Kubota would help out as well but I'm not sure how much they will do for you.

Anyway I feel bad for what happened to you. For most buying their first tractor is a good thing they remember, probably for life.
