Have you gone back to the dealer and told them that you can get extra money? I would like to think they would want to help you get the right tractor for your needs. If not maybe a different dealer. I would love to think Kubota would help out as well but I'm not sure how much they will do for you.

Anyway I feel bad for what happened to you. For most buying their first tractor is a good thing they remember, probably for life.

They knew that I had $20-$25k extra to help with the purchase but it almost seems like they were getting paid by how many contracts they could get especially when they were pushing for the 5 year term instead of the shorter term. I talked to a different dealer and he is anxious to help me out but I need a co signer cause of the first contract. Basically I would love to be able to return the tractor and end the payments with minimal penalty and start over with the new kubota dealer and new contract with the right tractor. The dealer I'm with now pretty much said in a nutshell. I sold you the tractor now I have nothing to do with you. I mean from reading on these forums really supports what he was saying cause he didn't show me anything after I bought the tractor. He dropped it off then drove off making me figure out how everything works on my own (I thought he would at least explain the safety features to me)

Sorry, but sounds like a bad case of buyers remorse... Maybe I'm missing something, but we all have choices and the ability to research major purchases.

Actually it did take me 3 days to do it. But I have a herd of 35 horses to look after as well, some need training, some are fouling, some are being gelded, ect. So getting the pasture done in a timely manner is nessesary. Plus while I'm in the pasture the horses have to be locked in a holding pen cause they like to follow close and around the tractor (including behind where everything is discharged) and injury is very much possible.

Corey, if you have 2 arenas, a herd of 35 horses and you're feeding with large hay bales, you are plainly rural enough that you have seen the kinds of equipment used at other horse properties and by other farmers in your area. It should have been completely obvious to you that a BX2660 is not in that category, regardless of what some dealer says to you about its capability. So, you're a responsible adult, right? The harsh fact is you own a big measure of responsibility for buying that machine.

You clearly need bigger equipment. It's time to make peace with the dealer (or another one) and find a way to work out a solution to your problem. It's probably going to cost you to make a deal that gets you the right kind of equipment, and maybe you will find a dealer that will work with you to mitigate the pain, but trying to put all the blame on the original dealer is not helpful to getting it resolved.

Interesting story and sorry you aren't happy - Just for my curiosity how do you have 35 horses to look after and this is your first tractor? I would guess some sort of major life change.

Maybe get some goats for the 47 acres!!

What are you trying to get the dealer to do? Refund all money? Quite frankly these tractors hold value a lot better than cars and with a little money I see no reason you can't sell it and pay off the loan.

Now, if you got a bad dealer (salesman), hey, it happens.
Choices include:
a) doing nothing other than whining to higher ups. Caveat Emptor
b) trade it in on something else that better meets your needs.
c) just sell the fool thing outright.

One is never "stuck" unless one chooses to be. Just my $.02

First, apologies to Fromjim for all of us basically hijacking his thread on this other situation.

Don't like quoting myself, but I said it days ago. The BX is a fine little machine, but the operative word is little. A salesman can sell all he wants and be as incompetent as imaginable, but the buyer needs to be a adult and is completely responsible for his decision making. Period.

And that decision was, frankly, absurd.

Redemption is offered to all. Again, no one is stuck except those who make bad decisions and then do not make good decisions to undo the bad decisions.
Sell that BX!! Pure and simple. Start over. Hopefully at a different dealership and hopefully a whole heck of lot wiser. It's best I back out of this thread now. Hope it works out for you.

Corey, sorry for your troubles. I treat the tractor sales folks like used car folks, they need to sell something to get paid. They usually find out what you think you can spend and then add 10-20% and put the sell on you, telling you everything good about the bigger one and pointing out you will be disappointed in the smaller... for some reason this salesman you had decided to get you in something smaller.

My personal guess (not enough information to do more than guess) is that the salesman decided they could maximize margins by putting you in a smaller tractor and loading up the attachments and accessories. If you went to a bigger tractor, most of the attachments and accessories would need to be larger also. It is not just spending $10k more on the tractor.

If I were in your shoes, I would consider purchasing another tractor, used and large enough to the do the 47 acres of mowing and moving bales. Keep the smaller for the other chores. I see 2WD farm tractors in the 30-60hp range for $5000-$8000, add a mower and bale attachments. (I don't recall whether you are flat or hilly, but 2WD may meet your needs for those chores).

If you bought the tractor and all the attachments listed new from that dealer, you will take a bath trading or selling, you should get some use out of them.

I agree with Jim, patience, politeness and prayer are powerful tools.

Actually I'm surrounded with grain farms so I can't see what everyone is using to look after their horses cause everyone has massive 200+ HP tractors to do their fields and crops with. I am aware it's going to cost me to get what I need, I just want a tractor that does the job, if it cost me $50k more then so be it, but I am sick of dealers selling me something saying it will work to do this and so I buy it start doing what they said it would do and end up with massive problems, go back to the dealer and try and talk to him about the problem just to have him completely avoid me after the purchase. My attachments had to come from a dealer 80km away from me. I hope when I go for the right tractor that he sells me the right one and we continue this dealer/customer relationship.

I'm now trying to recover from getting sick from it and am trying to figure out how to make it work for me by plugging the holes but still allowing control movement and finding and upgrading the heater to something that will actually heat things up.

In another life I found it necessary to place the chain saw under the hood of my truck to un-gel the fuel; did my rosy cheek work and sat down to a four squirrel dinner. Millions of human beings co-exist with bitter cold weather with no risk to health other than frost bite perhaps. Comfort/convenience sure but cold weather does not make you sick. Cold weather puts lead in your pencil!

Sorry but your comments (at least two) about getting sick from being cold seriously compromises the rest of your issues. Dats just not reasonable and was I a dealer and heard from a customer that a cab I sold him was making him sick, I'd run for the exits.

Sympathetic response, no. Mean response, no. Honest response, yes, as best I could deliver. Honesty is the best policy and I hope this, and other posts regarding your choice of equipment will lead you to a more successful place in all of this.

You have an asset worth X, you owe Y, and you need Z. With 35 horses and my understanding of horse trading, you should soon be in clear air.

Yes, it's a major life change for me. I went from living in the city for most my life to moving to the country where I board and train horses. While younger and living in the city I didn't have my act together and that's why my credit is shot. Met a wonderful woman and we decided it's time for a change and a fresh start so we moved out here. Everything is going great until it comes time to see dealers about specialty equipment then I swear they sense a new person to make the quickest buck off of. Then hide from them. I have been told by other kubota dealers that my case isn't the first time they have heard that happening from that dealer (they said it happens more often than not.)

I'm not asking for a refund, just to return the tractor, end the contract with minimal penalty and start over with a new contract and the right tractor. Where I'm living I'm a lone wolf (I'm in green and yellow country) but their dealers sell the huge tractors where on or two swipes and I'm don my pasture plus have to remove a lot of fence to get it in there, so orange is very new here and hasn't established itself as a good tractor here
