Kubota engine oil

One of the biggest benefits for me is I now have ONE oil to keep on hand rather than 6 partial jugs of all different weights and flavors. Having said all of that, I firmly believe most oils, changed regularly, will protect your engine just fine.
That's why I use T6 for all of our equipment.

There痴 more to drain intervals than hours of use. The average CUT will benefit more from annual conventional engine oil changes than running synthetic oil for several years between changes. Synthetic oil doesn稚 pencil out with many CUT owners hours of use.
I certainly agree with that!

Most Owner's Manuals for SCUTS AND CUTS that I have read specify a specific number of hours of run time or a specific time period between oil changes, which ever comes first.

Same here. The only other oil I buy is 0W-20 for my daughters Corolla. T6 in everything else.

Tractor trailers are rated at 1/3 throttle use not full.
???
They are. Sorry but that is complete crap IMO.
Maybe if everywhere was completely flat or down hill.
With the hills around here you use all the power they can give and generally wishing for more.

That may be true but it also may be true that owning the tractor itself does not pencil out for many of those same CUT owners. So why not waste a little more money?

For diesel engines if I can still see the markings or stamped print on the dipstick when the engine is cold I call the oil good to go longer if I was the last one that changed it. I have looked at a lot of used tractors the last couple years. Only one tractor which had not had a recent oil change by the way had what I called clean oil in it. Personally I find the need to change every year with less than 100 hours to be an old husband's tale. :)

Now milky looking oil in anything like gearboxes and hydraulics in general can drive me up the wall but not clean looking motor oil that is 4 years old in a 40-50 year old diesel tractor.

I agree some of us waste money on our tractors one way or another.

There are many hills all across this country but I have not driven or seen a tractor trailer that you drove on the governor! Think about it!

I think most agree with you.

Where does Kubota oil come from? Do the have their own refinery or blending plant?
Will Kubota oil work in a Kioti ?
Rotella 15/40 works great in this climate.
It's the most common oil used in the fishing boats here and they do get run hard.

+1 They MIGHT be rated that way, (nothing in front of me as to how they are actually rated, & as an older than dirt O/O since 1974, I do not believe that), I can also attest to the fact that that is NOT the way they are used in the real world.
Engine usage is different, tractors vs truck, even farm tractors vs residential. Don't know how that would factor in oil choice by the manufacturer as they probably choose an oil that is adequate in all stages.

For me, its the Schaeffers Para blend in everything except wife's vehicle which is dealer serviced.
As an O/O transporting a lot of base oils for Excel Paralubes customers, just to name a few, Royal Purple, Lucas, Kendall, Conoco / Phillips 66, Valvoline, Castrol, also a lot of house brands are blended up at sites that we deliver to. Have had a chance to talk to a lot of people that are way more knowledgeable than I about oil & greases & come to the conclusion that there is not a lot of different in the major brands of oil. Long time ago I got sold on the advantages of synthetic, & para synthetic oils over the conventional dino lubes. With todays engines being forced to operate at higher temps (thanks big brother....) lower temperature tolerance & earlier breakdown of the dino oils clearly give the advantage to the synthetic / synthetic blend team, IMHO. Not to say that following manufacturers service intervals using conventional oils will lead to problems. While todays products are MUCH better than years ago, the conventional oils are limited to a lower tolerance of high temperature. Also, (I THINK) I was told that due to compatatability synthetic oils have better additives that lessen engine wear, (remember, not 100% sure on this).

One last thought, in 2004 I had a Caterpillar truck engine inframed at the local Cat dealer. I was there when the oil was being poured into my "new" motor & noticing that the jugs were wearing the Cat badge, I asked the shop supervisor what brand of oil was actually being used. He replied that it was most likely one of three brands, Shell Rotella, Mobile Delvac, or Chevron Delo. He further stated that the oil contract was a very competitive one, coming up for renewal every 60 or 90 days, un sure which. He also agreed that I could possibly have two different brands of oil in my engine.
Don't know how Kubota handles their oil side of the business, but if it is the same, makes you wonder about the importantance of using "only Kubota fluids".

Just my $.02

FYI... Since a lot of folks seem to be using Rotella...

Tractor Supply has $5 off Rotella Synthetic, T6 (and I believe semi-synthetic) so it is $50 for 2.5 gal jug this week (thru 5/13). Works out to be $20/gal.

And I've never driven one that you could pull a full load at any speed at 1/3 throttle.
At or near full throttle.

Sorry my friend, this is not absolute crap. Off-road Diesel engine oil specs are developed using a duty rating substantially higher than the duty rating used to spec oil for heavy duty on road engines. To put this in lay terms, Shell Rotella is formulated for onroad use despite being used in a lot of off-road applications because of brand recognition and low price. However, Shell offers the Rimula series of oils which are more well suited for HD off-road applications.

At or near full throttle.
My Cat truck engine puts 655 HP to the ground. Torque is almost 2500 ft lbs. I never have to run it much over 1/3 of the throttle. And I run around north GA grossing at least 100,000 lbs every load. The last time I had it hooked up to the Cat computer my load factor was 34%.

That's great if you have 655 HP and 2500 ft. lbs torqe.
Never had any where near that power in the units I've run

..also if you go to Shells website and go to business and check for their recommended oils you will usually find T6 as recommended premium and T4 as meeting the manufactures specs (minimum)
Where does T5 fit into all of this, I believe it's a blend of syn+regular for diesel applications.
