Kubota F2880 Out Front Mower

Found this listed online at a Deere dealer in northern Indiana. I bought it for $5k plus tax so $5,350 out the door.

F2880 (not sure what year) 2100ish hours, 72" side discharge, 4wd

The story goes that a nearby park dept bought it new, they recently changed management and they have swapped to all green equipment so they traded it in on a Deere zero turn. It has a few dings but ran strong and smooth.

Mainly posting this here for others to reference the price when shopping around. I plan to make a separate thread regarding operating it etc.

They are excellent machines, but have a few quirks, like anything else.

I’d like to know if that towing hitch is a Kubota part, or home made. I’d like to have one for mine.

The hitch looks homemade, I can take more pictures when I get it home. I drove 900 miles to get this, they don't come up for sale often in my area and if they do they seem to either be abused or too new to be in my budget range. Plus, I've never been to this part of the country and it was a good excuse to dip down to Dayton Ohio and visit the National Air Force Museum (((highly recommended!!!)))

Have a grasshopper myself, same deal, hard to find used and not flogged. They make mowing under trees a breeze too and we haver a lot of pines here.

You can run a PTO alternator off of it with a 3:1 spline to 540 gearbox.

I have also been keeping my eye out for a Grasshopper with a Kubota diesel in particular, but same story as you, never found the right one.

I have been casually watching for one for at least 5 years so I'm very happy I found one and it was a decent bargain.

Cool! I live 45 minutes south of Stillwater.

I spent 2 hours in the experimental area yesterday, I just finished a few books about the skunk works, X-15 program, etc. So it was quite fitting. I also finished a Wright Brothers book recently so I went to Huffman Prairie also.

Not sure about the Kubota but my grasshopper's entire deck tilts up vertically for blade changes or cleaning.

IIRC, there was a hitch available at one time. I just looked at Kubota but didn't see one.

Same for the F's, but no option for powered tilt.
