Kubota Hst Pedal vs John Deere Hst Pedals

I'm well past 70 and have driven just about every configuration out there and I don't guess I'll understand the challenges to show someone else how to drive a tractor. It seems most feel if you don't do what they do, you just don't know how to operate "properly". I'm reminded of a scene in Quigly Down Under: "[Quigley shoots Dobkin, O'Flynn and Marston before they can even aim their guns, then walks up to the dying Marston] I said I never had much use for one. Never said I didn't know how to use it."

I don't really see the point of this thread. Treadle peddle verses dual peddle? I personally prefer the dual peddle of my JD X758 better. Just like I prefer my Kubota GST over a Hydro. That's just me. Others prefer a treadle peddle and a Hydro, which is fine. I don't argue or try to convince others my choice is better than theirs. Just absolutely no point in that.

To each, their own, it's your money, your choice! ;)

It's great for getting the post count up! :)

I don't understand the point either -- I own and operate both brands, and my feet can make both of them work just fine. I hop on the machines to get work done, and both are pretty effective.

I get along fine with the treadle on my old Kubota B9200. The only issue I've had was accidentally stepping on the reverse pedal of the treadle when exiting (getting off) the tractor. Only did that a few times early on and then figured out it's not a good idea. :)
How many of you guys are guilty of operating any type of hydro pedal while standing on the ground? I will confess.

I have done this to inch one way or the other when hooking up a 3 pt attachment while the brake is on. I don’t see it as dangerous. I would never, ever operate a gear tractor this way however.

I do it frequently using an abundance of caution. It requires folding the seat forward or bypassing the operator presence switch. I also stand up to see my fork tips or attach a QA implement while working the treadle as well. This is something I was never able to do easily with the JD 2 pedal design. +1 for the Kubota treadle.

I have done it also to hook up or disconnect implements. I don't bypass the seat kill switch. You can move the tractor just a tad (about a second) without the kill switch killing the motor.

Yes, you can make small, short maneuvers with the treadle while off the tractor without killing the engine. If you want to use a stationary implement like a chipper, splitter or generator, you have to fold the seat forward. If you have an air ride seat, you're out of luck since those seats don't fold on a Grand L tractor. In that case, there is no other option but to bypass the seat switch.

you have to fold the seat forward.

I have never folded my seat forward, I'll have to go outside and see if it folds.

Edit: It does fold, learn something new every day here.
