Kubota L3200
2011 Kubota L3200 HST. I've been rocking the foot pedal back and forth to get it to start for a little while. Today I guess the switch finally quit and left me stranded in the field. I found the safety switch on the clutch and tested it with ohm meter. It tested fine. My question is there a safety switch on the accelerator pedal some where? Please help me find it. Thanks in advance.

Let me google that for you.:D Actually looked it up on the Kubota website under parts. complete parts lists are available with diagrams there.

Looks to be on the top right side of the hydrostat transmission on a bracket there.

Welcome to TBN...good first post, but sorry for the problem...not having your exact tractor, I simply must answer as if I were having your problem on my tractor...likely, yours has many, if not all, of the same safety interlock switches.

to start my tractor, I fully depress the clutch, turn the switch and watch the glow plug light. When it goes out, I fully turn the switch and tractor starts IF:

seat switch is engaged
PTO is off
HST is NOT in cruse control

Note that I do not need to work the HST pedal. I actually forget what happens if I first depress the HST pedal then try to start the tractor. I just don't recall if there is an interlock on the pedal.

I'd verify that the interlock switches for clutch, pto, cruse control, seat are all adjusted properly and making contact as necessary. It is also possible, although I have not heard of a case, that the key switch itself might be faulty.

Hope you figure it out...the schematic hint that k0ua provided should be helpful. sounds like you know how to use a VOM and read a schematic....

I had almost the same issue. I have an L3800 w/ HST. Found the fwd/reverse peddle was binding. Greased it and has worked better so far ( 2 weeks).

Had same issue B21. Switch sticking. At 100 hrs. Located same place as yours I think, impossible to get to without disassembling much of tractor. So jumpered the wire. Works fine now.

Great first post, :thumbsup::welcome:

Greased? So is there a zerk I haven't found?? Or did you just put grease on it??

If it is like the L2800 which according to the diagram it is, then it is adjustable. Go to the left side of the tractor and look up under the dash by the key switch and you will see the safety switch. Then rock the HST pedal while observing the switch and you will get an idea where center is, how it operates, and how to adjust the switch to allow the tractor to start when the HST pedal is slightly off center. The switch itself may have just come loose. It is actually an easy fix.

Thanks guys for all of your information. I was able to find and adjust the switch. I'm now back up and running. This is an awesome site and thanks again for all of your help. :cool2::drink:

Rut, you win a gold star....you actually came back in your 2nd post ever, and let us know that your problem was solved and that we helped....such successes are good to hear, sometimes people never let us know if they got it fixed or how they did it. Letting us know the solution for you may very well help numerous others who find your post and thus never have to do such a post themselves.

Hey Rut (or anyone with some expertise on this) how did you adjust the HST switch? Mine I think needs it but I'm unsure how to do it.

I plan to first lube the plunger a bit to see if it's sticking and if that doesn't work adjust it.

Thanks.

Guys, I just signed up and want to thank you for this thread. I had same problem with my L3200hst. Saw this thread and went out and fixed it this morning. Starts great every time now.

I have had problems with two successive HST safety switches on my 2016 Kubota B26. The first switch started getting stuck intermittently, and then developed a short which kept blowing the 5A OPC fuse. That faulty switch was replaced by the dealer under warranty, but the tractor was unavailable for three weeks while the service tech diagnosed the problem and obtained needed parts.

Two months later (after the 1 year warranty had expired), the replacement switch started getting stuck too. At first I took the steps suggested in this thread, which enabled the tractor to start. But later on, no amount of pedal rocking, or lubrication of the HST pedal zerks or the switch plunger, would enable the tractor to start. So, I verified that the problem was the HST pedal switch by making a jumper using two low-voltage spade fittings connected by 16 gauge wire and inserting the two spade fittings into the female slots on the electrical connector for that switch. The tractor starts with the jumper in place. So, I have a second faulty switch.

Hope this helps someone else figure out how to diagnose and resolve Kubota HST safety switch problems.

Sorry to dredge up this old thread. While snowblowing this morning in my B3000 the engine suddenly died. Tractor has only 275 hours and has always run great. The way it shut off felt instantly like a safety switch problem. I'm going to try jumping the seat switch but are there others? This has an HST of course.

When I tried turning the key the dash lights come on but there's no click. Thanks for any help!

Don’t know specifics of your tractor, but...
sometimes there’s a neutral switch, PTO switch and pedal position switches...but I think these should only prevent tractor from starting, not kill tractor if running.
Did you turn off PTO (and reset neutral if applicable) before trying to restart?

Seat switch usually the culprit.

Yes, first thing I did was disengage the PTO and put it in neutral. No dice. Jumping the seat switches did not work. I am at a loss here. At least most of the snow blowing was done! Most of it anyway.

Did you check the operation of the fuel stop solenoid? Start there and ascertain if it is working properly, and work backwards. It is possible of course the fuel stop solenoid is defective in itself. It is time to pull the schematic and see how that puppy works. I can tell you all about how Kioti fuel stop solenoids work, and next to nothing about yours. The Kioti has two coils a pull coil and a hold coil. The pull coil is high current (about 20 amps) and the hold coil is about an amp to keep it pulled in. If it loses power the spring pressure closes and shuts off the fuel. I suspect the Kubota works similarly but it might not. Schematic time. Bite the bullet and buy the workshop manual. It isn't like you will never need it again. If you are going to work on the tractor you must be armed. If you are not going to work on it ever again just take it to the dealer.
