Kubota HST Side-by-Side Pedal Modification

Just a quick thought working from the toe lift idea, could you mount another pedal just to the side of the forward control and set it up like a teeter-totter. Pressing down on it would raise the forward pedal, the same way your toe would. It might be pretty simple to construct and would leave the existing mechanism unaltered.

I also wish for a side by side F/R HST pedal. That's one of the things that JD got right on their mid-size HSTs and I miss it. It used to be that I didn't mind going from one motion to the other, but as I get older the JD side by side pedals are easier on my hip, knee,and ankle joints.

Although I find the Kubota OEM HST pedal to be uncomfortable it is certainly very well made and the idea of modifying things as little as possible is appealing. Using a lever mounted to the left of the existing mechanism to work by forcing the toe of the lever up - the toe-raise idea - sounds like it is worth looking into. I'm going to take a look at that today....try to figure out the forces on the pivot.

Is it possible to simply rotate the HST control CW by 90 degrees? Can that be done? Would it accomplish some part of what we want?

I am sure there is a way. My brother lost his right leg and had his car fitted with an adapter that clamped to the accelerator so he could use his left foot on the brake and accelerator.

There are several TBN members with prosthetic limbs, strokes etc. and maybe they can come up with some ideas. Here is a modification Waxman came up with to make it easier to get on and off my tractor, he added a second step, my brother used his pattern. 4shorts is helping me add an air ride seat by modifying the seat base, both are amazing fabricators and really great guys.

The mechanics of dual pedals aren't all that complex. It would simply require replacing the factory pedal assembly with a bellcrank tied to two pedals. The big issue is to come up with a pedal assembly that is rugged enough to do the job. Maybe something out of a commercial vehicle like a truck or bus??

I have a one pedal system on my F3680 and this one pedal saved my leg from cramping-up

There, might be away to adapt the Kubota rocker pedal to your B3030. I took the floor off of the 3680 to install the insulation when I installed the cab. The HST levers and bell-cranks look simple enough. You might need to check the Kubota parts drawing on their website.
In fact I may try this modification on my B7800

Glad you found it among all that other off topic stuff.
The weather is supposed to be OK here tomorrow morning so I'll see if I can get some dimensions off of my B7500 and sketch something up for pedals.
The concern that I have is where to put them that won't interfere with the brake pedals. You wouldn't want to go for the brakes and hit one of them by mistake.
I had another thought also ... what about extending the reverse pedal up near the seat so you could push it down with your right hand??

I've got the same tractor and don't like the pedal where it is because I can't use the breaks to help steer it when using my front mounted snowblower on my sloped yard areas. I've thought about adding a left side treadle/pedal that I think would work for you if you have good use of your left foot and ankle. Not a plumber but a plumber's son very familiar with using pipe for all kinds of cobble jobs and my idea is to put a pedal of some sort on the left with a rod inside a pipe that would lay across the center of the floor then welding on some type of fingers that would physically move the right side pedal. A lever/rod of some type could be used instead of the foot pedal and would leave your right arm and hand to operate your loader controls too. Another thought I had was an electric joy stick type control that could be mounted on the steering wheel using a curled phone cord type wire ( often used in drag race cars with electronics that need a thumb button to for trans brake control ) that would allow it to wind up/out around the column and
on the pedal end an electric linear cylinder to move it up and down ( which does the back and forth ) movement needed.
When I first got mine I emailed pictures to a couple of friends showing off my heated cab snowblowing and one friend happens to have lost his legs completely in Vietnam and uses hand controls on his vehicles and manages to ride his quad with a lever attached to the shifter. I offered to bring it over for him to try out and that was when I first thought about a lever attachment since he'd need it to move. How he manages to plow with his standard stick shift Ford tractor is beyond me as I haven't been around when he's used it but he has for several years now..must be a shuttle shift I guess.

There's a couple of "super fabricator engineers" here on the forum one who posted the sticker in particular that could probably design what's needed or something that would work given some thought . Not only do I wish I could think of some of the neat things these guru's come up with but have their gift of craftsmanship to go along with it. 4shorts is for sure a genious when it comes up with cool ideas done right.
I'll try and draw a couple of things I had in mind and scan them in and attach to a reply that someone else can probably figure out some trick way of accomplishing what you need to solve your problem.

Tiredguy, do you have a cruise control lever? You can use that to set your forward speed and then remove your right foot from the hydro pedal to use for split brake steering to "crab" a little and get back on course.
