Howdy all,

I'm financing a new tractor thru Kubota. They are requiring me to get insurance and are offering insurance for ~$120 per year.

Did anyone get the insurance thru them, and if so, what does it cover?

I use State Farm for my home owners, they say it's covered under my home owners policy for fire and theft, but it doesn't cover wrecking.

Just wondering what the Kubota insurance covers (my Kubota rep was supposed to fax me the coverage info, hasn't arrived yet, so in the mean time figured I'd ask here).

Thanks, Mike

They way I understood State Farm: If you're trailering it down the road, you do get into some different specifics [wouldn't know whether the Kubota insurance covers that or not] even if not to a destination with commercial intentions.

My State Farm agent said they could write an "inland-marine" [don't quote me on the spelling or exact phrase], policy for around 1.5% of value, which would cover the machine if you're hauling it.

Good Luck!

I also use State Farm. I called my SF agent and made sure that not only would my tractor be covered to and from trips to my other property, but also my trailer and liability. The premiums were minimal, and were basically a "no brainer". If I drop a 7000 pound tractor off a trailer and it goes through the front of a minivan, it won't be pretty. I don't need that sort of liability as well as the potential loss of my tractor and trailer. I suggest calling your SF agent and getting appropriate coverage. It isn't all that costly.

Here in Kalifornia, as long as I don't have a farming operation or a tractoring business, my tractor is covered under my homeowner's, completely, at no additional charge under State farm.

I think (I know) this topic has come up several times in the past. You can do a search for lots and lots of info

Another State Farm insured here, I am sure things are covered differently from state to state. But my agent said I am covered under the homeowners policy when it is on any property that I own, (well making payments on). While being towed it is covered under the car policy.

If I am at someone elses place I am covered for liability as long as I am operating it.

I purchased the Kubota insurance when buying my tractor. In my case, however, tractor is located at farm in another state, so my homeowners policy wouldn't apply. Checked on other insurance options and Kubota seemed most reasonable, in terms of both cost and simplicity. They will not fiance a tractor unless it is insured, and their insurance seemed reasonable to me.
