Trying to decide which one to get?

I have a several quotes from dealers. Comparing the quotes from various places, the L4600 HST is $1,155 cheaper than the L4701 HST, both with R4 tires and the quick attach 72" FEL.

The only differences between the two models that I know of: 1) Tier level of the engine and 2) 1.5-2 more Horse power on the 4701

Would a more recent model have better resale value compared to the older model, later on?

L4600 is my pick. Simplify your life.

Yep, get the 4600. That's my vote anyway. While you're at it, though check out the MX series. When I was shopping, the MX 4700 was cheaper than the l4600.

L4600 as well but check for a holdover MX.

Cool, thanks for the advice.

Now, the MX4700-5200--that's jumping to the Utility Tractor classification? I think the L4600/4701 is Compact Utility.

At a glance, differences seem to be a little larger, 500 pounds heavier, FEL a little more powerful. Just a little more tractor.

Yeah, the MX is a "utility" vs. a "compact utility" on paper. In reality they're pretty darned similar and if you can get a little more HP, little more weight, and bigger loader for the same or less $, it's worth a look.

Let me add that I have both an L4300 and an MX5100 and the MX is much heavier and puts a lot more power to the ground. Both are excellent tractors but the MX will out pull the L4300. The hydraulic flow on my MX is more than the L4300 too. Both are gear transmissions but I like the MX shuttle better.

I'd go with the L4600 over L4701.

The MX designation is a bit misleading as if you look at the specs it's really no more of a UT than the GL30 or GL40 which are CUTs; kind of a blurred line in this size. The MX has more features than the standard L Series and a really good buy though more expensive.
