HST model? Are you mowing? Does it engage when not under load?
If it doesn't engage at all, the lever may be disconnected. If it slips under load, you may have a burned up pto clutch or a filter is so plugged the pto clutch doesn't have enough pressure to operate.

Welcome to TBN. As slowzuki said check your cable from the PTO to the lever that it actuates. This lever controls a hydraulic valve that operates a clutch pack for the PTO. So if the pressure is low or the valve is not operating thats the place to look. More details would help in diagnosis.:thumbsup:
