Thanks for taking the time to reply guys.

Upon the suggestions of the kind folks of this forum, I am giving the kubota a closer look due to the proximity of the dealer. I went back and studied the quote he gave me a little more closely and I have a question for you fine folks. He has a l6060 hst cab model in stock with 15 demo hours on it. It also has what he called "snow tires" on it,(Does he mean agricultural tires?) and the cost would normally be $1795 more then he quoted because of the tires, but he would include them for free because of the demo hours.

From reading these forums, I thought you could normally choose which tire style you wanted at no additional charge? I know this tractor will no doubt be gone by the time I'm ready to buy, but just trying to arm myself with some knowledge prior to visiting the dealer.

One more tidbit of information about my intended use.

I have a few acres of wooded land (hoping to someday add on by buying a much larger parcel adjacent to me) which I've cleared a small spot and currently keep my fifth wheel. I spend much of my summers there and hope to build a cabin there in the next couple of years. So will be using the tractor to dig a basement, general landscaping, pulling a bit of firewood, push a little trail down through the woods to the river, etc...

Normally Ag (R1) tires are the baseline tire option, and there is extra cost for Turfs or Industrials (R4).

Just me, but in addition to the L5740, we have an M8540 and no way would I attempt to dig a basement. My son is presently building a house without a basement after we figured in the time and cost of doing it, renting an excavator and hiring it done. We spent more money on fuel uilding our firing range which required a lot of digging and hauling and learned our lesson on it.

I would want the dealer closer but with a 10,000 price difference there would have to be a lot of problems to overcome the savings. I would be looking hard at the Kioti and wouldn't let the distance be as much of a factor.

I think for $10K Can, it would lead me toward a Kioti. I would be less concerned about extra weight, except as it correlates to 10 LESS HP.
I'd get a HLA front mount plow, made in Canada, a pair of Aquiline MPC rear chains, loaded AG tires on all four wheels, and a Kioti KB-2485 subframe mount backhoe.
I still have some 6' snow piles in my driveways, too.
And you're right, a V-plow truck can't walk up a snowbank with a plow blade full of snow and push it over the top of the bank like my Kioti can. My DK is somewhat smaller than your NX6010 would be, but the same principle applies even more with the larger Kioti.
I would understand why you may be leaning toward the Kubota because of location, but if you treat it right whichever tractor you buy shouldn't have a need to spend time in the shop. If it did and you had to make a trip or two, you'd still be ahead in $, IMHO.

Being that all the 2014 mfg tractors are tier 4 emissions controlled. I would not buy from a dealer 400 miles away, there will come a point where you need them.

If it were my money, I would look for a 2013 mfg tractor that was tier 3, without all the emission hockus pokus.

Snow tires are very likely a turf tire, which will work better than an ag or industrial tire in the snow, but an industrial tire should be fine for what you have in mind.

Random thoughts on comments in this thread.

TSO is right: 5 miles is a good case for whatever they sell. I just trailered my NX6010 200 miles tonight because it is easier to bring the tractor to the toolbox than the tools to the tractor to replace a 10 dollar seal that got damaged clearing 35' tall aspens that holds back 15 gallons of fluid.

A complaint about the Kubota L6060 has exposed hydraulic lines. For snow work you can have hydro lines hanging out in the wind no problem. Line placement is an issue only if you're doing rough work like mechanically clearing a forest.

Tire choice should be an even swap. Trying to sell a demo as though they are doing you a favor doesn't scream deal to me. That said, I understand you're tractor dealer challenged in your area and so you may need to accept their bid. Even so, shop the mainland for a bid on the same thing.

Good point from grm61. The Kioti tractor you are talking about is a tier4. Still unprooven. But, if you look closely at their emission specs, they bring up excellent engine features, that only top of the line manufacturers would offer on small equipment. I am talking about the common rail direct fuel injection system. It is a more precise, and more fuel "friendly system". Plus, Kioti is staying away from the traditional exhaust fuel regeneration system. I would talk about this with your dealer in the first place. Tier 4 is at the base another consumer racket. They make you buy special exhaust gas "regenerative fluid". Bringing other hyghly toxic chemicals on your shop floor and beeing after all released in the atmosphere/environment, is not exactly clean to me.
This said, if you feel comfortable with having your dealer that far away, by all means do consider a Kioti machine. You did not mention LS. Any possible dealer within 400 miles? Have a look at what they offer. The 7010 model could fit your bill. It will prove very difficult to excavate any basement solely using a three point mount back hoe. You are talking landscaping and small excavation, on top of snow clearing. My choice would be a UT between 42 and 50hp max. With R4 tires, and a mid PTO, with belly mower being a down the road possible option. But if you start going in the woods, I would consider loaded R1 tires(all four of them. Use liquid Rim Guard, inner tube preferably; mendatory for calcium). The width of the laneways you intend of plowing should factor in your purchasing decision as well. Distance between each customer is another factor as well. Speed of traveling could make a huge difference at the end of your snow plowing shift. I agree with the front end loader, and the rear mount blower for your snow clearing needs. Do not use chains. First they may be illegal in your province, they could harm your customer's ashfalt, they will get worn quickly on pavement, they will decrease greatly your travelling speed, and they will get loose fast. Do not forget your strobe light, your slow moving vehicule sign, good front and rear work lights, as well as mirrors on both sides, and wipers front and rear. Now you'r good to go!:D Enjoy your search, and hopefully your T.B.N. page is on top of your favorite's list!!

His "snow tire" may be a Nokian. Around here, some of the commercial guys swear by them, especially on ice. They look like a turf tire with slightly more tread depth. I priced them for my L5460 and was told about $2000 over regular Kubota tires (they have to be sourced from someone other than Kubota is my understanding).
