Its my understanding that "Freedom of Speech" relates to not having a law that says you can't say whatever you want. So you can say whatever you want, but that doesn't mean somebody who is damaged by what you said can't sue you for it. Or that some group of people can't organize a boycott against your product if they don't like what you have to say.

However, I sure wouldn't worry about recommending products. Thats seems to be quite a stretch. These are just scare tactics, and they wouldn't scare me much.

I don't see how Kubota could deny a warranty claim unless they can prove your modification caused the damaged. I guess they CAN do whatever they like, but they might not win in arbritration.

Not necessarily so. I think were seeing much speculation. The idea that they would show their equipment in the sales brochure with a Glenmac/Harley powered landscape rake, a batwing made by Landpide, a pull cart obviously made by someone other then Kubota, an unknown agricultural sprayer, a Woods rotary cutter, a Toro aerator, Gannon boxblades, and who knows what else from previous brochures would suggest otherwise. I suspect all manufactuers will have the option to deny warranty claims if it is determined that the use of such equipment exceeds the tractors design or if abuse is suspected. That is where the argument is most likely too develop. It is an area I hope none of us have to experience regardless of brand. The user manual for my tractor clearly states the maximum size of implements my tractor can use, some of them are not even available from Kubota. While I consider them a bit conservative on the capabilites of the tractor, it obviously shows Kubota is not discouraging their use on its tractors.

Maybe Muhammad could post the letter on this site somewhere. Just a thought...
It's a 734K pdf and, as junkman stated, it takes a while to download, even with a broadband connection.

The pdf contains 6 pages. Five pages are an article from something called the Northwest Tractor News which details the troubles CW had with his backhoe. Much of which he's already posted here.

I did a search for this publication, and while I didn't spend a lot of time on it, I couldn't find evidence of this publication nor did the 5 page article include any contact information for the publication. Frankly, it looks like something that was created in Word or Publisher.

I downloaded the pdf and converted it to six jpeg files, but at 100k each, they were very difficult to read. I worked on the 6th page, the letter from Kubota, and it's attached.

I'm afraid if you want to read the entire article, you have to go to Yahoo.

Regarding PDF file size, I think that I got this link from somewhere on this board - have never used it, but it may shrink the referenced document to a small enough size to post here...

Attached is a text version of the pdf. The sixth page must have been a scan of the letter from Kubota since it did not convert. However, I attached the body of the letter in my previous post.

Mike,

Thanks for posting it for us to read.

Seems to reinforce what many here preach - Choose your DEALER wisely. If I had bought a backhoe from any brand & the dealer installed a thumb on it, I'd expect the dealer to stand behind the product, - be that working things out with the mfg or making it right on his nickel.

They sent me a letter indicating they knew I had posted on some news groups. They did not mention this one specifically, but said that I must take as much effort letting people know that gray market tractors are not up to US standards as I did encouraging people to look at buying gray market or other brands.

So, according to the information in the pdf, Kubota was willing to cover $400 of the $1,200?

Was the dealer willing to cover any of the remaining $800?

That is not quite accurate. Yes I did receive a owners manual, but you have to take into account KUBOTA's advertising and the dealers comments:

Kubota makes a big deal about the robust nature of their products all over their web site. The dealer says "they are almost indestructable" and so forth.

Also, if a deler sells you a Rankin post hole digger, rankin brush hog, Cello rototiller and a Rhino box scraper along with installing the manual thumb - you'd think those were accpetable attachments.

But they are not according to Mr. Ingram, any - any attachment three-point or otherwise that is not on the KUBOTA price list and is a NON-Kubota part will invalidate your warranty.

Do you use any non-Kubota implement?
