"The dealer wrote up two sales slips, one for me, showing the package price of the tractor & implements, and one for KCC showing the tractor (no implements) being purchased for the package price,"

Doesn't that mean that the dealer is flagrantly voiding the factory warranty in order to sell implements?

Carver's, the dealer I used to purchase my first Kubota, wrote up one loan document under KCC for both my Landpride mower and L48. Again, I think it's purely speculation that the warranty is void if a 3rd party implement is attached to the Kubota machine. If it were, they would never advertise 3rd party implements in their sales brochure. I think common sense is saying, if you install a 16' grading blade from Caterpillar on the BX 2200 and the tractor breaks, they may take you to task. In the user manual it is spelled out for many implements just how big or heavy an implement you can use. Rat...

I didn't think that was the case. Kubota Credit wouldn't finance the (Landpride) implements I purchased with the tractor.

I don't normally finance things...but the zero percent interest rate would have been foolish to pass up...

When I bought my BX2200 a couple months ago they did include a 60" Woods rotary cutter as part of the package. It is listed on the documents sent to me by Kubota...as part of the financing documentation.

Interesting enough...I would never use the 60" brush hog on the BX...I got it for use on my B2910...

Not sure exactly what the message is here...but they do finance non-Kubota implements, I can tell you that for sure.

To top it off...at a zero percent interest rate!

Now that is interesting! Go figure... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

" It says unauthorized implements. Now, how do you determine unauthorized? "

Easy. If it breaks the tractor, it ain't authorized. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Out of curiosity, did your dealership install any of the ( non-approved customer modifications) ?

My guess is that your dealership did not have anything to do with the non-approved modifications.

So the question for you is: "If your dealer did install some non-Mopar equipment on a new vehicle prior to its sale (i.e., custom wheels, custom radio, different brand of tires instead of GoodYears), would they take care of any necessary repairs that might result if the non-Mopar equipment became defective or otherwise caused damage to the vehicle?" I suspect that they would either stand behind the installation or else would refuse to install the equipment.

Getting back to this post, I feel that if the dealer installed the equipment (they did), and gave no verbal or written exclusions to the warranty (they didn't), then the dealer should stand behind his customer (they apparently aren't). Furthermore, the customer should not have to pay in this circumstance; the Kubota dealer and/or Kubota Corp. should be responsible for this repair.

Whoa Guys! I was playing "devil's advocate" here! My comments were to point out just how silly it is to think that Kubota would void a warranty if you hooked up a non Kubota impliment to the 3 point. Guess I should have added a couple of /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. Come on fellas - how on earth would ANY tractor company stay in business if this was the case.

By the way, I looked at my finance contract. It clearly shows the Bush Hog box blade and rottary cutter - serial numbers and all.

Now back to the question at hand. If the dealer installed a device that voided the warranty, then I'd have them fix the dipper, pay them what they wanted, and then take them to court. There is NO excuse for a dealer to install devices that void a warranty. Let the dealer argue with Kubota if they want, but as I see it the dealer failed here.

Which reminds me, my dealer refused two requests I made. The first was for a 6 foot cutter and the second was for hooks on the FEL. Seems to me that my dealer understood what was and wasn't permitted.

Keith,

I agree with you. Kubota and the dealer haven't handled this very well, but neither has CW. Kubota is now trying to address CW's efforts on this site, other sites and through a "report" that no one knows who published (CW perhaps?). Just as CW's original post was inflamatory, this follow up appears to do the same thing in a more subtle manner. None of us really knows what really happened or whether CW abused the backhoe or not. Based on what we've read, it would appear that the dealer should be stepping up more than he has, but that's based on CW's side of things. We haven't heard from the dealer. We only have a letter from Kubota, which indicates abuse of the hoe (not so much because of the thumb, but the operator's use of the hoe).

However, what bothers me here is that CW appears to be doing the same thing he did initially, again! By making this "report" available without documenting where it came from or providing verification of the comments made in it, the "report" is just as imflammatory as his original unfounded statements. That, to me, is what Kubota is really after him about. I don't think posting the "report" along with Kubota's letter is going to satisfy Kubota's demands that he cease and desist, and we are starting this thread all over again. Perhaps it is time for this one to be closed, just as the other one was.

Did I miss something???? I didn't know that there was another post that had been closed when I made the first post to this thread. Every time that I think that I am coming up to speed, I find that I am still only in second gear. Can you post a link to the original post.... thanks ....

junkman, you are not missing anything. The first thread started out almost the same way and eventually turned into a mini-flame war so the entire thread was deleted.

Perhaps CW will return and answer some of these questions, the most significant one, IMHO, was mine /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif, i.e., did the dealer offer to kick in some $$$$ for the repair? Afterall, a company honoring their warranty is somewhat immaterial. The important issue is when something breaks and needs to be repaired/replaced, who pays how much.

I'm trying to figure out how much money is being argued over. Based on CW's reply, the repair was going to cost $1,200. Since Kubota was going to pay one third, that leaves $800. If the dealer offered to donate the labor ($350), the remaining cost is down to $450.
