Kubota M62 TLB Pin Retaining Bolt Snapping / Loose Nylon Lock Nuts

If you mean greasing the bolt hole, I don't think that will help. If grease isn't getting all the way along the length of the pin where the cylinder sleeve rides on it, that's a problem. Pulling the pin would tell the story.

Yesterday I swapped buckets on the backhoe, and the plastic retainer on the nut that goes on the retaining pin bolt was shot. 300 hours on the tractor, and as far as I can tell, it's only been swapped out twice before. So yeah, crappy nut, but I don't believe even first quality nylocs will last forever.

In the photo below, the bolt with the crappy nyloc is in the lowest pin.

The retaining pin can be installed from either side, so that bolt could also be on either side.

Hope that helps...

OH DUH!!!! Sorry, you meant the plastic/nylon part inside the nylock nug... right, I understand now... yup, see what did I tell ya.... check all of them :)

This is mine, you can see why it didn't click to me... like what's the point of a quick coupling if you have to get out and take off a bolt and nylock.. lol

Well, yes and no. when I took the three point hitch stuff off the M62, the ring on one of those clips had disappeared. It’s in a pretty sheltered location on the tractor, and I don’t see what could’ve knocked it off. I don’t think I’d trust one of those on a backhoe bucket.

Stubbie says hi!

Hi Stubs...

You're probably right, it came like that, I should swap that out for a bit more secure solution.
If it’s already there, I’d give it a shot. But I’d keep an eye on it, and if the pin started to come out, I’d be pretty sure what happened.

My guess is that the bolt fell out because of the crappy nyloc, and the dealer stuck that clip on there because they had one handy. Or maybe it’s the other way around, and the clip fell off of mine, and whoever had it before me stuck that bolt in there. Guess I need to check the parts diagram to know for sure though. Our used tractor’s history we’ll never know. I suspect, at least on mine, I haven’t found all the dragon eggs yet.

Well considering that I bought it out of their rental fleet, it makes sense they'd have a quick clip there as they're changing buckets with every client probably.... that being said, I went and looked... and it looks like you're the one that's being a rebel... LOL

Good dig on the pin. Messick's?

Yep, a rebel without a clue. I'm running the experiment now on how long that hogged out nylock will last. 140 feet of trench done, only another 400 to go...

Did you notice that each of the three pins on that piece of linkage uses a different method of securing them in place?

And that the lock pin rides in bushings? That's the first time I've seen Kubota use bushings for any pin, and I'm dumbfounded they would put them on a pin that sees almost no motion. Seems to me they know how to make bushings, but for some reason don't use them i places like FELs and backhoes where they would actually do some good. I sure miss the old TBN emoticons. The one for pounding your head against the wall would be very fitting in this case.🤯
