It took me about a day to go from the Kubota, with brakes on the right, clutch on the left, and rocker pedal to dual HST pedals, on the right, brakes on the left, and no clutch on the Kioti.
A day later I was completely comfortable with this setup, and now would not want to go back. I use the split brakes a lot, and I enjoy having them over on the left where they easily accessible. Yes I used to use the cruise lever on the kubota to be able to lift my foot off of the treadle pedal and use the split brakes. It works, but not in reverse, and not nearly as handy as having brake pedals on the left.
I am pretty confident with Kubota putting their brakes on the left now on many new models, this is pretty much the standard going forward in hydrostatic tractors.
