Kubota Paint and Primer

Be careful!
Over the years, I have several times had a can top that was not on as firmly as I thought.
A week, a month, or more, later.....BIG ugly surprise.

All have lid clips on them.

Here are a few photos of the tractor and an update -

First, after all the complaining I did, I am actually a big fan of the Kubota paint and primer. Turns out the cost isn't as bad as I made it out to be as the quality is really good. For the bucket I think that Rustoleum covers very well and is a better deal but for the rest of the tractor the Kubota primer works great.

The 3pt area was degreased, washed, sanded where accesible, any rust was treated, washed again, wiped down with thinner and painted. It came out better than expected.
Fenders, door handle, cab frame, brush guard and steps were prepped and painted the same way. Excellent results.

Was going to do the hood in the same manner but have since decided to take it to a buddy's shop and have it sprayed in a booth. I feel confident I could get a good coat and even shine with rattle cans but don't know if it will be as durable.

Even when you put them on properly, the solvents can develop pressure from being heated and cooled, and break the seal.

I have seen 55 gallon drums of waste thinner with the top domed several inches from pressure buildup.

Looks good. I'm doing same deal with the hood on the M9, having it done in a body shop. The hood is probably twice as big as yours and had a couple 'whoops' dents from the previous owner and every time I look at them, it irritates me.

Wheels are easy. I run masking tape (the blue stuff) 2" wide arounf the edge carefully and make a cardboard cover for the wheel nuts and mask the valve stem and go to town with a rattle can...

Thats a 5030 HSTC isn't it? I had one a long time ago (where my screen name came from, 5030). I see you are minus one mirror. Nice tractir, just not large enough for what I do. I require at least 75 PTO horsepower.

It's a L4330. Purchased it used with one mirror but it has been a very nice tractor. Going to clean up real good too.

All States Ag have the mirrors much, much cheaper than the Kubota dealer wants.

Thanks for the tip 5030. I really don't use the mirrors so haven't given any thought to replacing the missing one.

Had the hood and grill guard painted at a shop. Painted the front wheels, bucket, cab, side panels and rear of tractor with spray cans. After painting everything I let it sit for a week then wet sanded and second coated.

You can see the difference between the shop painted hood and the rims. The clear on the hood really shines and will hold up much better in the sun. But the spray cans did a decent job.

Will post another photo when I finish painting the loader.

Looking good. My M9 hood will be professionally refinished as well. The previous owner put some nice dents in it and I'm not a dent fixer upper so I'm leaving that to a body shop. Normally, being a farmer I don't worry about small scrapes and dings but every time I look down the hood and see the dents, it irritates me.
