Floyd,

( Are you happy with the size of the 2910 )

Yes, I am very pleased with the size of the B2910 (30hp) and the nearly identically sized B2150 (24hp). But I must qualify that statement. I have 5 acres with about 1 acre that is fairly steep. The 5 acres is about 5 miles from my house in the city. I hope to build soon, but for now I transport the tractor(s) back and forth. The B2910 and smaller tractors provide all the power that I need and are light enough to tow behind my Dodge Dakota.

The way that I understand Kubota pricing, it costs about $2000 to upgrade from a B7800 to a B2910 (to get the extra goodies). It cost about $500 (or less) to upgrade from the B2910 to the L3130 (which has the same "goodies"). I got a good deal on my USED B2910 (50 hour tractor and 72" mid-mower for the price of a new tractor with no attachments). However, before I found that deal I had already decided that if I were to buy a new Kubota it would be a Grand L 3130 (or larger). Not because I need the bigger tractor, but because I think it is a better value for the money.

( The have incorporated cruise control on the B7800HSD now )

The B7800HSD has always had a "set speed" device similar to what I have on my older B2150HSD. It is very different from the cruise control on the B2910 and L3130. WIth the B2910 cruise control, you can use the cruise control lever to completely control forward movement instead of using the HSD foot control. When approaching a turn point, you can grab the lever and slow down a little (or a lot), make the turn, then push the lever back forward to regain and maintain forward speed. I use the B2910's cruise control often; I never use the "set speed" device on the B2150 performing the same mowing tasks.

Besides the difference in cruise control, here are some items that the B2910 has that the B7800 does not (to my knowledge all the Grand L series have the same features as the B2910):

(1) Extendable 3-point link arms
(2) Ratcheting 3-point arm adjustment for leveling
(3) Position Control
(4) Tilt & Telescoping Steering Wheel
(5) Tool box
(6) Mid-PTO (optional on B7800 with folding ROPS; I have heard that this may become a B7800 standard feature)

I think that there may be other minor differences, but I can't think of any at this time.

Good luck in your search for the "right" tractor. If you come up north to the Mountains one day I will let you try mine out if you think that'll help you become more educated.

I own a B2910 and am very happy with it's size and features. My dealer told me that the B7800 and B2910 will still be around for a while. The B2710 is still available but limited to available stock.
I plan on keeping my B2910 for a few years. Unless Kubota comes out with a B2910 sized tractor that has the features the Grand "L" series tractors have. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

MY first Kubota was a B7100 HST. Had it for 15 plus years with only a O'ring being replaced in those years. As other have said they can still get parts for these tractors.
I have a JD dealer in my area that uses the same type of tatics when tryng to sell. I will not purchase a tractor from him. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I live near several JD dealers that will offer me deals on JD without ever saying a negitive word about their compeitors.

One other thing the B24/27/2910 has that the less expensive B75/7800 don't have is the rear hydraulic outlet. This comes in handy if you want to add the hydraulic block for rear remotes.

Kelvin,
Thanks for clearing up the cruise control. What you described as being on the 2910 sounded pretty useful.

5 Miles from your property - must be nice. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif If I were that close I would buy the tractor just hop on and drive over to it. I am about 45-50 miles from the property. I doubt my lil 4 cyl ranger would make sense as a towing vehicle and I don't WANT to tow with my wife's explorer. So along with buying a tractor, I have to figure out how to get it there. I have also thought maybe I should just get the ball rolling on the building process - hire out all the clearing I want done, and then after I move in - get the tractor that suits most of the remaining tasks.

Thanks for the offer to test drive, but everytime I go to the mountains I wanna stay... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Mad,
Thats good to know about the hydraulic remote block. Don't know if I would ever use/need remotes but its good to have it available.

Thanks,

fwc/Floyd
