Thinking it should be cheaper to buy the parts than a whole tractor is retarded........................
You think so? Only ignorant people would think it is "retarded".

But after considering the source, oh well.....................such a comment could be expected.

How much labor do you think is required to individually package every part, keep track of where it goes, keep millions in inventory, keep staff to sell it to you, and maintain the facility to transport and store it all. You’re missing the big picture if you think it’s cheaper to sell all the parts to assemble the tractor vs a tractor.

Have not needed my Kubota parts but I found when I ordered a set of mounted tires on rims through whole goods about half the price of just ordering tires from my local Tire shop...

So half the price plus I hot new rims in the deal ready to bolt on.

Maybe this has changed but I have told this story many times and it still amazes my tractor friends around here.

Technically the tire/wheel assembly you bought was through "Wholegoods" and not the "Parts" department. Perhaps your model is an anomaly, but in most cases the prices through parts will be significantly more money. Wholegoods is the department that sells the tractors. (I'm not trying to create an argument. Just trying to point out they are different departments have have different pricing structures.)

If you just use the engine model # and search for the part online you will find much lower prices than the dealers are charging.

Yep, Ebay is certainly a source for cheaper replacement parts, and I occasionally do that, too. Sometimes you do ok and they even fit and work as claimed. :) But YMMV. Anecdotal example: I recently ordered a Stens oil filter for my Kubota GF1800 from a very active Ebay vendor, relying on the vendor's product "Full Item Description" detail page for assurance it would fit that model. It arrived quickly, but the site detail had been wrong, and it clearly was the wrong part. No big deal, that stuff happens, and I didn't need to install it right then anyway. But still a nuisance. Return shipping would have cost more than the filter. Messaged the vendor to let them know so they could fix their site, and asked if they were able to send me a return shipping label. After several days without a response, I messaged Ebay's customer service out of curiosity. Even without my asking, Ebay refunded the full price the next day! Still haven't heard back from the vendor.

Yes it was through whole goods... had not known to ask before TBN

The sales person didn't know either but they had a huddle and decided I was right...

Another tip of the hat to TBN

I've had better luck with getting the right parts by ordering on line then when I trust some parts guy behind a computer with my order. And when I screw up at least I dont have to drive back and forth to the store a few more times.

If they have ten million dollars in inventory, and will probably never sell most of that, but must have it on hand, who do you think pays for all that? It HAS to be paid for by the parts they do sell.

The brand new parts I have seen dealerships throw in the garbage at inventory time is just crazy. But excess inventory costs them money.

I had occasion to tour the CNH Master Parts Distribution warehouse in Lebanon, Indiana a few years back. IIRC it was around 1 million square feet under 1 roof. They said there were more part numbers stocked there than GM, Chrysler and Ford Motor Company had active part numbers in their systems combined. And CNH has 7 other parts depots and a remanufactured parts facility in the US and Canada other than Lebanon, although all are of lesser size.

About twenty years ago, a coworker had a seat stolen from a new car. The replacement seat was almost 3 grand. High end Ford Mustang
