Kubota parts and supplies are RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE

Yep. The latch broke on my "Kubota" tool box - the little plastic one behind the seat. I checked and a replacement was $80 !!!
That's just plain ridiculous. I went to Lowes and bought a bigger Kobalt box that fits perfectly - $7. Seven Dollars. 7.

The only problem is the Blue Kobalt box sticks out like a sore thumb on the Orange Kubota. Makes me want to go buy a New Holland.

Spend a few bucks on Kubota orange spray paint. Problem solved.

Filter prices for my 2009 Kubota M 6040. Kubota oil filter - $22 Wix oil filter - $9. Kubota hydraulic filters - $44(each) Wix hydraulic filters - $15(each)

I bought Kubota filters for the first oil change - after that I have switched to Wix.

Thanks for the price comparisons. That's about the same around here. The cost would make a difference to me if I did it a couple of times a year, but just doing it every couple of years it makes more sense here to go for the genuine article. I gotta believe that Kubota cares more about filtration on their machines than Wix does. That Kubota hydraulic filter is HEAVY....what's in that can?

rScotty - - its just too early in the AM for all this research stuff. I went back in the back bedroom and checked all my filters and crapola. I have the paperwork showing the prices for Kubota vs Wix filers for engine oil and hydraulic fluid.

I noticed that the new hydraulic oil filters I have are still Kubota. The ONLY change I've made is from Kubota engine oil and Kubota engine oil filter over to Rotella oil and Wix engine oil filter. As the sun rises - more coffee is taking affect on me - - I DID NOT buy the Wix hydraulic oil filters because - - such a great difference in price MUST mean something in what you obtain for the final product and since hydraulic oil is only changed every 600 hours on my tractor - - the increased price of the Kubota hydraulic filters is spread over a long time.

Hey - you think the hydraulic oil filters are heavy when dry - - wait til you go to change them and they are - - HOT and saturated with hydraulic oil.

'Ol Knotthead here - first hydraulic oil change - 16 gallons - one of the wife's Tupperware quilt storage bins worked great - I'm tough- -no gloves - wholly Crapolla - hot filter - dropped right into the soup. Second filter - gloves make it MUCH better.

Another learning experience for the Norwegian here...........

They make paint formulated to stick to plastic you know.

I bought a 47 cent spring yesterday for my Steiner. It cost just under ten dollars. I was quite pleased that they had it. Not having to root around in my own stuff is worth ten bucks never mind running around town, looking for one. I had to go to the town the Dealer was in anyway.

As far as filters go. They all look the same on the outside but there are often quality differences on the inside. I started to realize that cross reference charts really only address size and pipe thread, not filtration levels. If there ever was a place to cheat the consumer easily, filters have to be it.

Should have gone to Home Depot. Their orange "Homer box" matches Kubota orange pretty well. Was double the size of the tiny black plastic box on my old L3200.

Duh!.. now why didn't we think of that. Home Depot=orange and Lowes =blue... oh well. Guess he should have had a New Holland if he was going to shop at Lowes.

I agree. Replace the fan and become aware of it's weaknesses. I broke mine with a rebel sprout!!!! Pic shows sheared fan and replacement.

I was fixing up some Lincoln 255 MIG welders for a friend last week. I took the air to the fans, which is always fun, making them scream. One just grenaded! Lesson Learned.
