Thank you, exactly what i was hoping for... sometimes its hard to explain and picture something in the mind for others. Pictures say a million silent words.

Valkyrie's photo seems to define the nature of what triggered the recall. I looked at my own BX2200 and the hose from the radiator definitely goes to the bottom of the overflow tank. The pictured blockage in the overflow tank cap is the outlet from the tank top to the external "down the side of the engine to the outside" hose. I would think all of us would now agree to those facts (after only 42 posts...)

The potentially blocked exit point in the cap is free to rotate or swivel (at least on mine) and thus not really quite airtight. If blocked, some air will escape at the swivel the very first time the radiator cap allows overflow into the tank. The pressure involved would be on the order of 18psi as it is with any radiator cap. Unless there is a very large overflow the liquid will never get to the tank cap. If and when it does, there is going to be hissing under the hood, bubbling and spewing of antifreeze solution at the swivel, etc. It is hard to imagine an owner who would not notice if this occurs. A pressure of 18psi might or might not blow the tank cap off the tank. Probably not (mine screws on.)

I'll revise my earlier opinion but only slightly: If the problem exists there will be ample warnings and clues of sizzling and leakage. If the problem exists, it will involve a chronic failure of the radiator to suck fluid freely back out of the overflow tank into the radiator during cool down. Thus, another trouble clue would be the tank being full or "unusually full." So, in my view, anyone who looks under the hood once in a while would see the symptoms. Yes, it is enough of a nuisance that one should swap out the cap OR, if you read these forums, just look-see if it is plugged or not. Even if it is plugged, a drill will do a fine job of fixing the problem. And I contend it is a very minor, self-identifying problem.

Note: in Valkyrie's photo the cutaway view does not look like the cap center, with hose outlet, swivels but rather appears to be solid. MAYBE that type cap snaps on rather than screwing on? Potentially that is a factor in which Serial Numbers are involved in the recall?

Now look at how much it's costing them... not good.

All this gets passed to the next generation of buyers. People like me who will be buying a new machine a few years down the line.

Holy smokes, this will cost JohnThomas a fortune if he continues to add to his Kubota collection. :D

I think the real issue is with the solid blockage as shown in this picture, from the molding process. I'd bet the red and blue dots are to signify the caps were inspected after the recall, and likely had a drill bit ran through them to insure the passage is cut open. The shavings that PaPow had in his were likely from this clearing process. Makes me wonder if PaPow's cap would really hold back the pressure, or if the shavings would allow air to pass to vent the bottle.
Edit: Maybe I read it in another post by PaPow about shavings in the tube? I don't see those words in his initial post after re-reading, so maybe it wasn't his cap that had shavings. :confused3:

No, the shavings were in there before i did anything to my original cap. The new replacement cap had the exact same issue as the original.
The new replacement cap that Kubota had sent to me had both dots, red & blue, and like i said, it TOO, was plugged with plastic debris.

I noticed when i had cleared the original cap, it took a little extra hand force to twist the 4mm drill to cut out the debris/shavings.
I did not put the drill bit in a electric or battery powered drill, i just used the drillbit with my hand to run it thru the cap`s port hole to clear it out.
The plastic that was stuck in the cap, i guarantee they wouldn`t have come out on there own... debris was FIRMLY attached in the hole.
Could it have eventually blown off the tank...??? Who knowwwww`s.... i`m just VERY glad it didnt happen!
It was likely to me, that there was just enough of a tiny hole to let the overflow squeak by...maybe.

It is VERY evident, that this plastic (shaving/flashing) thats stuck in the path of the hole came from their injection molding process.
I know this for the simple reason, that you actually have to cut thru it with a drillbit just to clear the hole out.

Every bit of this recall could have been handled alot differently by Kubota... they should have just sent out instructions on how to clear the hole out on your original cap.
So nowwwwwww, they sent out some caps with the same problem, the trouble is, how many new caps got sent out to people that dont even know the new cap might have the same problem.
As of this time, i`ve seen nobody else post in here that there new cap was plugged like the original that its suppose to replace. And what about all the owners that aren`t even on a tractor forum.

I believe that this cap issue had been going on for a very long time... to have it in the older tractors, then sending out new ones just recently... this problem has been there awhile.
My biggest problem with this, why didnt this get found sooner before tractors went to market, and why did they send me a new replacement cap with the same problem later on down the road.

Here`s why... QUALITY CONTROL IS LACKING!!!!!

Wow, I cann,t believe a 10 minute check and fix, if required, with a 11/64 drill bit causes such a debate.
What happens to everyone when they encounter a real problem, that cann,t be fixed in 10 minutes. LOL

Well geezzzzz, i dunno, i guess it just depends on how small a problem it is if someones gets burned, or maybe overheats their engine and ruins it... or both at the same time...?
Yeah, now that i think about it, its not that a big a deal, huh. If you`ve never been burned by hot engine coolant, i`ll tell you that its not pretty, and its extremely painful. Been there, done that... it sucks.

Forgive me for my sarcasm BleedingOrange, you`re somewhat right though... but it should have never gotten to this level, this is all on kubota corp.
Its a pretty stupid mistake on THEIR part that shouldn't have ever happened. They play all this hype up on their products, but they make VERY stupid mistakes like this...???
Pretty obvious that they have quality control issues just like any other mass produced product. I just hope i never have to need their help in customer service if its anything like their parts they send out for a recall.

Got a gift in the mail today - it was the cap for my GR2120. Wonder if I will remember next July when we once again have grass to mow. Can you believe they trust me installing a cap when they say to change the fuel filters take it to the dealer? Changing one of the 2 filters requires removing a wheel the dealer told me so the make it a dealer item.
