In another thread this guy is looking at a Takeuchi TL8. Greetings from Alabamie

Correct. Wayyy to much money. Getting a Cat 257b instead.

Why not a JD?

Here is an interesting comparison:

Jd3520 vs 9n ford.

Jd3520 rated 30hp @ PTO and 75 ft lbs torque out of a 91 ci engine.

2n gasser. 23 HP PTO and 84 ft lbs or torque from 120ci.

Aside from them being decades apart and vastly different feature wise, put these engines in two identical tractors. Which will run a bigger PTO implement? The high torque-lower HP one? Or the lower torque higher HP one?

Which one will pull a grade in road great better?

Which would you rather have? 7 more PTO HP? Or 9 more ft lbs of torque?

too expensive with the eh controls. Nice one though..... Also tbh the john deere 3000/4000 series are not very good tractors. Kubota and Ls own the market in my opinion in that size. Its not as much that I am brand loyal, its just more that John Deere tractors have worked for me. A friend of mine has a 4020 with over 30,000hrs and he still uses it everyday. Just saying.... I didn't mean to stir anything up, I was just sharing MY experiences. My two friends that had kiotis had horrible luck with them. As I said, a kubota/Deere/Ls are all very good tractors. Not just John Deere

You might want to check on the durability and price of undercarriage parts for the CAT before purchasing.

I have :( I hate the perkins engine aswell. But the cat comes with eh controls for a much lower price. Ive always had Cats, a cat 262, and 2 cat 236's. Also being a horse farm ground disturbance is a big issue. A wheel skid steer or a Ctl would tear it up too much. I am prepared unfortunately for all of the maintenance, and Im praying that this perkins doesn't puke.

I think that the earlier perkins were the most problematic. Have you thought about a low hour Bobcat A300? It's a very strong machine with all wheel steer. Of course the floatation of an mtl/ctl is hard to beat.

Edited to add: You may want to look at bairproducts.com parts for CAT mtls
