Recent vacation, visited Texas, Louisana & Mississippi. That kudzu sure was impressive! But it was mostly absent from cultivated fields. What do you guys do to control it? Locals said most herbicides just make it mad.

I've seen sheep and goats eat it to the ground. Ibelieve I saw a discovery channel show that illustrated one city bringing in herds of sheep/goats in small moveable pens to control that folage..

I believe that constant cultivation keeps it under contro but once you stop it'll come right back.

I read/saw/heard a study that was done using different herbivores to control it. Cows won't eat it close enough. Goats do a decent job, but the sheep ate it closer and apparently their hooves were sharper and broke the vines at ground level and helped control them.
Seems I read somewhere a kudzu vine was recorded as growing a solid foot overnight.

I once saw ad for propane on a billboard that said something like "we cover more of Georgia than kudzu.":)
