Well...I am waiting till the last minute to jump on the 0% financing...

I have opted to go with the 3130 HST w/filled R-4s
I am going to get a long 66 4-N-1 Bucket with toothbar and upgraded rocker valve assembly. The dealer wants to put the 4-n-1 on a 513 loader? He suggested this for a reason, but I never asked why? IT seems the 723 would be better suited, any opinions?

What do you all think about the 4-1 on the 3130? I was leary about the weight but they say there won't be a problem.

Out of all the pricing to follow what do you guys see that seems out of whack? Seems a bit high on some things but the dealer is really helpful??

L-3130 HST w/R-4 15,100
LA 513 Loader 3,700
Credit on 66" Bucket <405>
66" Long 4-1 Bkt w/Valve 2,200
Long Toothbar 265

Woods 6' Mower 1995

Thanks for the help yet again!! Almost got it figured out!!

I won't comment on the price since I've been out of touch with prices, but in my opinion what really makes the L3130 really shine over the competition is that for a fairly small tractor, it has a great loader available for it in the LA 723. It also has arguably the best, bullet proof HST's available. The 4N1 on this with a good heavy box scraper and the LA 723 would be a very nice setup.

Congratulations on your (almost) purchase of a new Kubota L3130 Tractor. I have a L3430 with a 723 FEL and love it (year-old with 130 hours). My guess on the dealer recommending the 513 loader over the 723 would be to keep the weight down (513 loader weighs less than 723) giving you more net lifting capacity, and the lower lift height to keep that heavy bucket with load closer to the ground. Both good points!

The 513 is a good loader and depending on what you will use it for can be an excellent choice. Your didn't fill out your profile so we don't know if you will use this setup for snow or other light materials. If snow is in the picture, I would opt for the 723 loader with the skidsteer quick attach. The 4in1 bucket has not proven to be a great snow removal bucket. If you will plow snow, you will want a quick attach snow bucket. You will also find many uses for a set of pallet forks. The ability to quick attach these assorted FEL options is invaluable.

My opinion!!!

I have about 14 hrs on my L3130 HST w/LA723 loader with an AnBo 60" Grapple with quick connect/skidsteer setup.

I would definitely opt for the LA723 loader as the 4-n-1 is likely much heavier than the 66" bucket (like 700+ lbs vs. 247 lbs.) The quick attach extends the bucket out 6 additional inches so subtract some of the quoted lift capacity.

Having the quick attach is a great option so in order to make it work I would go with the larger lift capacity LA723 loader.

I considered the 4-n-1 bucket at first, thinking its ability to 'grab things' would be nice but then I started asking myself what exactly I'd be lifting. I decided I was going to rip out brush, haul logs, till up the ground with the teeth, etc. In looking into it, a grapple bucket ( search for grapple on eBay and see what different types/styles/prices are out there) was more the right ticket.

I'm not familiar with the Long rocker vavle control setup, but I found using an electric diverter valvve off the boom circuit and a push-button knob on the loader 4-way control works very slick. Should run you ~$750 installed with all hoses + the price of the grapple.

If you opt for the quick attach you have the luxury of a regular bucket with tooth bar for bucket work and a real grapple for the real grabbing work.

As for prices I you're right in there with what I paid:

L3130 HST filled R/4 rears 15,000
LA723 loader w/ quick attach 3,900
std 72" bucket w/ 3 chain hooks $600
72" tooth bar $399
AnBo 60" grapple w/ quick attach
Electric diverter valve, controls, hoses installed $950
Bush Hog 65" boxblade $628
I'm sure you'll be very happy with the L3130 in whatever loader options you decide on...it's a terrific value in a tractor.

My guess on the dealer recommending the 513 loader over the 723 would be to keep the weight down (513 loader weighs less than 723) giving you more net lifting capacity,

To be blunt, my guess would be that this guess does not hold water...

The reason I say that is the Kubota numbers on the loaders in my understanding represent the lift capacity of the loader. So if you take the smaller loader and add the weight of a 4-in-1 bucket to it, the net result would be that it would lift a lot less than the larger loader with the same bucket on it.

Go for the 723 loader, and if you consider a backhoe, go for the BH90.

Just for laughs, ask the dealer about a backhoe. My guess is he will recommend the BL4690A...the same one I have on my B2910...another no-way item for the L3130, in my humble opinion... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

loader numbers (LA513, LA723, etc) do represent the lift capacity of the loader.....take that number and multply by roughly 2.2 to get the lift capacity with boom at bottem at mid bucket point.

That of course depends on the bucket type/weight.

If you intend to do a lot of loader work and are questionig the lift capacity, here's something to consider:

L4330 w/ LA853 loader.

L4330 has best torque/$$ with it's 4 cylinder engine

LA853 loader has 1874 lbs lift capacity at boom bottem/mid bucket. and reaches 113.6 inches vs. the L3130's 102.4 )

Slightly larger frame, but not that much larger than L3130 (about 7" longer/ 4" wider). The combined weight of the L4330 tractor & LA853 loader is ~500 lbs more than the L3130/LA513 giving you more traction to put that extra torque to good use. You would certianly have great traction in low range on the L3130, but you could haul (as in drag/push or mow) similiar loads in mid range with the L4330. Just for reference the Max torque of the L3130 3-cylinder is 75.9 ft-lbs. vs. 107.8 ft-lbs for the L4330.

If I had it to do over I'd have opted for the L4330/LA853 setup for these reasons.....BUT, I'm still very happy with the L3130...even in low range /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif and I'm sure you'd be just as happy.

On the off chance you're tempted, the best price I could get was about $3600 more for the L4330/LA853.

L3130 vs L4330 price difference is a big difference. I was thinking hard about the L3130, L 3830 and L4330. I ended up with the L3830. Why? Because after using my L48 Kubota 2 dealers said I would be disappointed with the power of the L3130 in the HST. I priced the L3830 and L4330. Each model increase brought about 2K increase in price. The L3430 was of little interest because it had hardly anymore power then the L3130 but did have a cab option which was of no use for me. The focus became the L3830 or L4330. A little more loader, a little more price, seemed obvious the L4330 was right. In the end, the specs on the LA 853 while certainly more impressive, did not swing my choice. I was already accustom to the L48's much larger capacity over the LA 853. My needs to move thousands of yards of material were over. If I had it to do over again, I would have rented an industrial machine that dwarfs anything any compact offers. The power of the L3830 with my 84" mower with arguably the quietest diesel available in either 3 or 4 cylinder made my choice all the easier. I would say that if your needs are such that you load dumpsters, the LA 853 and its higher loading height should be strongly considered, otherwise, the LA 723 will be fantastic. That 4N1 is a much heavier bucket then even the HD bucket. Get the LA 723 at the minimum. Rat... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Get at least an L3830 or even better L4330 with the LA853 QA loader and HD bucket. Also, 2 sets of rear remotes and a canopy. I have a 3130 (w/LA753 loader) with 57 hours on it. It is a super little tractor, but a bit under powered. Just from experience and my 2 cents. Good luck!

I would opt for 3 sets of remotes Top, Tilt and the third runs the rippers on a box to the angle cylinders on rakes, blades etc. All six of my hoses quick couple.

I got some L3130 quotations on my vacation a couple of weeks ago, and the GST with R1s and the LA513 loader was about $17.3K. That was at a couple of dealers in Oregon. HST is about $1K more. That GST tranny is sweet.

What I really want is a lease return, commonly sold for 1500-2000 less with 100-200 hr and full warranty. I can wait.

(RaT, when you are ready to buy your new L5030, give me a ring and I will take that old 3830 off your hands.)
