Help me decide, both have the exact same size engine and all specs are the same except the 4330 produces its peak HP at 2600 RPM's and the 4630 at 2700 RMP's. Is the higher price (2000K) and 3 more HP worth the bucks. The reason for trading is I want a bigger loader and a heavyer front end. Also when trading the L3830 & FEL is I will also trade the front mount snow blower that I only used 1 season.

Given the numbers, it would lead me to believe the pump is tuned slightly different or a different injection nozzles are used.

The same engine at lower fueling will last longer, all other things equal.

They both weigh the same too, so for dragging things out of the woods it should be similar. Our 5030 doesn't need to be opened up for logging.

I'd save the 2000$ myself... Maybe if you need the power later you could turn up the pump or swap injectors...

When I bought my L4330 HSTC last year I believe there was also a difference in transmissions. The cab model 4330 had a hydro and the 4630 was glide-shift. If I had it all to do over again I would get a 5030. There have been many times that I have ran out of HP. Mainly when digging with the front bucket.

I bought my L5030HSTC when I went out to buy a 4630. I don't think that there was nearly that much difference in price from what I was quoted. If it is 2k difference, I don't think I would pay that much for only 3 more hp, if that is the only difference.

Since you want a bigger loader and heavier front end..... they both fit your needs... I know they both use the same "bigger" loader (823) and I believe they both use the same front axle.
Therefore, I would keep my $2k and buy fuel, filters, tools, implements, or anything else.... Plus, I positive the 4330 can do anything the 4630 can do!

For what it is worth, I am going to be putting my money where my mouth is and buying an L4330...

Lastly, I don't know what loader you had on the 3830, but if you were truely disappointed in it, you might want to consder going larger than the Grand L tractors!

Ask yourself what you need the tractor for and what you want the tractor for... You should be able to get by with what you NEED... But, if you have extra money, there is an entertainment value to the smaller tractors. Which, I consider anything under 100hp to be a smaller tractor.

Get the 4330 and $2K worth of accessories. I have the 4330 GTS and am impressed with what it can do. By the way, its easy to run out of HP with any loader in dirt, no matter how big the tractor. Technique is just as important as HP.

I tend to think the difference in HP would be barely noticeable. My '04 L4300 (same engine-but 45HP) has yet to find a job that requires anywhere near its rated power. But then I'm a gear head and I see you're into HST and there are losses.

The HST losses at the PTO, compared to gear, are documented on the specs and are minimal while those at the drawbar are not documented. This, combined with the fact that you're trading up from a nearly new machine because it's too small, seems to indicate to me, Deerlope, that if you're going to go bigger then GO BIGGER! You don't want to be doing this again in another 18 months do you? You should be deciding between the L4630 and the L5030.

Of course us TBN guys like to spend other people's
money... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well said, I agree completely.
After owning a Kubota L48, I realized that what I needed was either a compact or take the next step and just get a used industrial. I must say, having dropped down to a L3830 HST, I have yet to have any regrets. I too would opt for the L4330, the slightly less HP would not be an issue and lower price would either mean lower monthly or a extra nice mower.
